Candy's POV
I run to the train platform hand in hand with Avery. I'm so glad she's here to share all this excitement with me. And even if I'm more than a bit nervous I know I will make this. I will become Dauntless.
Everyone can hear the train is comeing. A wave of energy flows throw my body. I feel a longing to run and jump on the train. I have done it dozens of times now, but I still feel the same freedom as I did the first time.
The train is nearly here now. I start running side by side with it. I reach my hand and grab a handel next to the first door. Then I swing myself into the moving train. Avery is following me.
We are now in a train department. I look around. Everyone except for me are wearing black. Great. Now everyone's going to notice me.
All Dauntless borns look at me for a while. Then one of the boys start to speak "How did you do that, Erudite?" He raises his other eyebrow. "Well, first of all I'm not Erudite anymore. And what comes to your guestion, I just jumped." I answer. My voice sounds annoyed. "Transfers ever made it as good as you did." Then he sees Avery next to me. "Oh, I guess your Dauntless friend helped you. Avery, I don't realize why you are hanging around with that little Erudite. She's probably not going to last more than a week..or a day."
Avery looks like she want's to give the boy a hard punch on the face, but I whispers to her that he's not worth it. Avery looks like she wants to contradict but instead she says "I wonder where Tresia is. We should go and find her." I nod. I'm worried about Rose too. I should've looked after her. Technically it's my fault if she didn't make it on the train. I should have helped her instead of just having fun with Avery.
We have to run to the last department until we found Tresia...and Rose, who is crying while Tresia is hugging her, trying to comfort.
When Rose sees me she starts to howl. "It was terrible Candyyy!!!! I had to jump and I nearly died and I will never make it into Dauntless!!! I'm a coward, and they will make me factionless!!" I feel sad for her, even if it's probably true. Poor Rose.
As I look out of the windows I see people from the first departments jump off the train onto a roof. "Rose, you need to jump!" I scream to Rose while Avery takes my hand. I look at Rose one last time. Then I jump out of the train, my hand holding on Avery's.
I land with a hard thund on the ground. I see Avery standing next to me. Wait...standing...I made it! I landed on my feet!
I feel that Avery hugs me and I hug her back. This is Dauntless. Finally I'm here!
We hear someone crying behind us. It's Rose. She looks terrified as she mutters "I want to go back home.." I know she can't. But there's no way she'll make it through initation. She will become factionless. She did choose wrong. But why did she choose Dauntless? She must've known she would never make it here.
"Initiates! Welcome to the Dauntless head quarter! I want to congratulate you for comeing this far. Only one dead...that's really uncommon" One dead? I look wondered to Avery. "Amity transfer boy fellt off the train" she whispers. I feel sad for him, but better to be dead than factionless, right?
I look back at the tattooed man who continues talking. "Now you must show us that you're brave enough to start initation. You will show that by jump off the edge of the roof. It's the only way for you to get down to the head quarter. If you can't do it, you're not Dauntless." I look around and see that many of the initiates look afraiden. But I'm not. This is going to be sooo fun!
"Who's going to jump first?" He asks. "MEEE!!!" Avery and I yell exactly at the same time. We start walking to the edge. It looks endlessly deep. Avery takes my hand and whispers "On three...one, two, three..." I feel my feets leaving ground. I close my eyes. The wind takes my body. Hand in hand me and Avery are falling. Time flows by. Every second feels like a century. But then, finally, our bodies hit something hard.I open my eyes. I see myself lying on a huge net. Next to me I see Avery. She looks at me and then, surpriseingly, we both start laughing. I can't believe that I was afraid to jump! I mean, the feeling when you are just falling...it's amazing. It must be the closest thing to flying a human can do..
I feel someone taking my hand and helping me out from the net. It's a good-looking guy with blond hair and black eyes. I can't help but stare.
He must have noticed me being muddled because he smiles and says "Hi! I'm Jeremy. Welcome to Dauntless! What's your name?" His smile is amazing and breath-taking. "My name is Candy" "So sweet!" He says and I can hear the laugh in his voice. "Make the annousement, Ken."
A muscular guy yells "FIRST JUMPERS - CANDY AND AVERY!"
I look at Avery. She has a smile at her lips. The smile soon changes to a laugh when I run to her and we hug each other. I'm so happy! This is where I belong. This is home.//Author's note//
Hi! So in next chapter the initiates will have a tour and the following chapters will be about initiation. I'm thinking about the order: first the gun shooting, then practising combat skills, then fights, then knife throwing and finally fights again. And Capture the flag is going to be at some point!
And every chapter from now on is at least 800 words! I promise!
Love you all ♡♥
