Chapter 1 - Factions

Candy's POV

I wake up at 5am as I have done in a week now. I know that's becose I'm nervous. It's only a month to the aptitude tests are taken. I have no idea what my result will be.But I know what I want it to be.
   So soon as the clock turns to 6, I get up from my bed. I walk to the bathroom I share with my twinsister. I look to the mirror and see my face. A long blond hair and blue eyes. I guess I could be pretty if I wanted to.
   When I have looked into the mirror a while I go to my room to change. I wear blue jeans and a blue tank top together with black boots. I'm Erudite. We wear blue, so I have no choice.
  After I got dressed I make a quick makeup. Then I go out to run. My family is still sleeping. I'm the only one awake in the whole faction. I run across our part of city. I'm going to the Dauntless section.

As I run I think about the factions. Think about where I could belong. I remember everything my teachers has told me. How there was a big war that ruined the world. Only thing that is left is this city. In old days it was called Chicago. Now it is splittered into factions.
   Abnegation. The selfless. They only care about others. They dedlicate they life for helping others. They also give food for factionless. Because they are selfless they works as leaders for the city. Abnegation wears grey so that people would forget them. I have never inagined that I could be one of them. I am selfish. And I hate to be ignored.
   Amity. The kind. They are always smiling. They seem to be happy. They wear yellow and red. Many Amity work on a farm, just outside the city. They are feeding the other factions, and even works as doctors and nurses. I think about it. I could never be Amity. I'm not kind enough.
   Candor. The honest. They always tell truth. Even if you don't want to hear it. Candor wear white and they works as lawyers for our city. I have always avoided them because they can identify a lie. And I have too many secrets I don't want to tell. So no Candor for me.
   Erudite. The intelligent. My home faction. We valure knowledge. We always want to know more. That makes us the best teachers. People of Erudite wear blue. We are all expected to act grown-up, even if we are kids. To be honest (not Candor-honest but..) I could choose Erudite. I could have a happy life here. But I'm not so chore that it would be what I really want. And when you have chosen, there's no way back.
  Dauntless. The brave. The last faction. They value bravery and fearless people. I have always been facinated by Dauntless. They work as guards and polices in our town. They wear black. They are so strong, so unbeliveable free. I want to be one of them. But I don't know if I'm brave enough to choose them.

As I have been thinking I have run across the whole Dauntless part of city. And it's 7.30am. I will never be back in time to school. There are no busses in Dauntless. My only chance is to catch a train. I just don't know how. I have never jumped aboard one before.
  As I stand there doing nothing, I see a train that are comeing to the platform. In one of the doors I see a blond boy standing. He holds his hand out and yells "Smarty one there! Run if you want to catch the train!" In that moment I realize what I have to do. Whitout thinking too mutch I start running to the train. I run a few meters side by side with it. Then I catch the boy's hand and jump on the train. When I get inside I realize that I must look terrible. But I don't care. I made it. I jumped on the train!
