Olajide Olatunji.

I left the house, holding onto my keys.
I'm meeting up with my Bumble date.

I haven't told anyone about her, because I'm pretty certain that they'll make a big deal out of me
meeting her online. I've seen her face and we've been on call a few times.
I feel like I know who she is

Though, I don't quite know why I went on a dating app.
I guess I was trying to hide something, and wanted to prove my thoughts wrong.
So I think that's why.

We agreed to meet at some nice place to eat. I could only assume it'd be a café.
That's what she hinted, anyway.

She sent me the location and I drove to the place.
Simple as it is, right?

———

There it is, a cute little cafeteria in the middle of London. The cold air rushed against me as I walked into the wind. The smell of cinnamon buns lingers in the air as I walk towards the cute shop.

As I stepped foot inside the café, I saw her.
She looked even better than the photos.
She was gorgeous.

"Hey!", She greeted, getting up from her seat to embrace me with a warm hug.
"Hello!", I replied, giving her a little peck on the cheek.
She directed me back to the table and sat back down in her seat.

"So, how was your journey here? You felt cold when I hugged you.", She giggled. Her giggle was adorable.
"It was alright. I was in the car for most of it. So it's bless.", We laughed.

"Let's check the menu, shall we?", She smiled.
"Of course.", I couldn't hide my smile.
——

"Welcome! What can I get you?", The waiter asked us. We smiled at each other, she signed that I should order first.
"I'd love a cinnamon roll or two, please.", I politely answered.
"Double that, please!", She added.

"Of course, any drink I can get you?", He asked.
"I'd like a milk tea, please.", She smiled.
"I'd just like a coffee, black please.", I told him.
"Coming right up!", he said as he walked off.

"What made you download Bumble?", She asked me.
Which, to be fair, I didn't quite know myself.

"Well. I- guess I needed someone to love. I know it sounds cliché, but I needed that.", I told her, which was only half true. It was essentially just wanting to prove myself and my thoughts wrong.

"Oh, wow! I downloaded it because I'm looking for somebody to spend the rest of my years with.", She smiled warmly at me.

"So I guess we're basically on the same page?", I said, making her laugh.
"I guess we are, JJ.", She smiled at me.

For a while, we stared at each other. Love was found in her gorgeous eyes, love mixed with a sprinkle of guilt in mine. I felt like I was using her to prove a point to myself. Which wasn't far off.

"Hi! Your cinnamon rolls and drinks are here. I'll give you the bill afterward!", He walked over awkwardly, which I can only assume is because of our staring, He smiled, placing our orders out for us.

"Thank you, sir!", We thanked him.
We dug into our food. A bit of conversation here and there. It was an ideal date, if you ask me.

———

It got a little late, and I went to her place. We didn't do anything, we just had a couple of drinks
and watched films. She was a very funny girl, so I enjoyed every bit of it.
My phone kept going off, so I checked it.

Simon texted me. He asked me where I was.
I wasn't gonna let him know where I was and with who. So the first thing that came to my mind, was to tell him not to worry. It was actually quite dumb. Because if someone told me that, I'd worry more. Especially if I were an overthinker, like Simon is.

"Who's that?", She asked me.
"My mate, Simon. Me and him live together. He asked me if I was coming home or not so he could lock the door.", I told her. It was only half true. I don't know why I lied, but I did.

"Wow! So you two are very close?", She presumed.
"I guess you could say so, yeah. We've known each other for time. I'd say ten years?", I reported.
"That's cute! I hope I'll get to meet him someday.", She exclaimed, smiling at me.
"You will."

———

It was only 15 minutes after Simon had texted me. And I felt bad about what I texted him.
He was just looking out for me. I wanted to let him know I wasn't mad or anything.
Because I know how his brain works.

"I'm gonna go home now. Text me anytime!", I told her, giving her a hug.
"Okay, babe! I'll see you soon.", She hugged me back, leading me to the door.

I hopped in my car as I waved her goodbye. I turned on some music and drove home. Her house is a 10 minute drive
to mine, but she doesn't know where I live.

I opened the door, and immediately saw Simon on the sofa. He looked drained from
any energy.

"Jesus, Simon. Go to bed.", I told him, he shot up from the sofa in shock, which I assume
is because he didn't hear me come in.

"I will, you too?", Simon replied faintly. He looked like he was about to pass out.
"Yes, Si. Are you okay?", I looked at him. His blue, energetic eyes were dimmed from any color.
"I'm fine.", He told me, smiling weakly.
I know he was lying, but I wasn't gonna question him. Not today, anyway.
