She fell headfirst in the water. The surfing board leash held her close to the board as she managed to get her head out of the water. As always, Jasmine was perfecting some tricks on the larger waves while Lei and Rick held hands while attempting to keep balance on their boards.
Cassandra was not too far away and even though their relationship was still awkward, they found a way to make it work without excluding anyone. Kaiden stayed with Rowland further away but every now and then, Rick hurried out of the water to hug his boyfriend.
Suddenly, she felt two arms lift her up, out of the water and on their shoulders.
"Terry!" she yelled.
His feet reached the bottom but only his head was out of the water and Brianna held on tight to his head, struggling to stay in place.
"Let go, Bri! Let it all go and scream!" he told her.
"What?"
"Just like you see in movies with the girl on the back of a motorcycle on the highway. You'll feel better!"
"I can't just scream with everyone around!"
"Why not?" he laughed. "I LOVE BRIANNA SALLOW"
Brianna laughed, bending down to kiss the top of his head, and slowly stood back up. She let go of her hands as Terrence held her ankles firmly. She put her hands in the air and right when she was about to scream, she felt Terry letting go of his grip.
"I LOVE TERRENCE BARTS!" she screamed.
She quickly took advantage that Terry's grip was loose to jump back in the water and hide under the surface for as long as her breath could be held. Terry pulled her up and carried her in a princess manner while the others cheered.
"Terrana!" Jasmine shouted.
"Go Terry!" Lei and Maverick smiled.
"Thank you for being a part of my life, Terry," Brianna whispered.
"Thank you for being my ray of sunshine," Terry replied.

It was the last night at the camp before everyone would go their separate ways and go on with their lives. Brianna felt tears in her eyes every time she thought of the heart-breaking goodbyes that awaited her but she also felt excited to see her parents, Zoey and Sam again.
At the thought of Sam, she remembered their last conversation.
Sam awkwardly pulled her in for a hug but after a couple of seconds, the embarrassment left and for some reason, Brianna felt safe.
"I'm going to miss you, Bri," he smiled, a sad look on his face.
"I'll miss you more, Sam," she replied.
Her eyes filled with tears and she quickly brushed them away. Sam grabbed her hand and her chestnut eyes locked with his emerald eyes. He mouthed "I love you" and Brianna was uncertain on how to take it but she preferred to see it as a friend's love.
"Don't forget me," he whispered.
"I won't, I promise," she murmured back.
Was their relationship more than just friendship? She still did not know but what she was aware of was that she had a boyfriend and she loved him to death. She would need to have a talk with Sam.
She could already imagine Zoey jumping hysterically everywhere at the word "boy" and she would probably ask a million questions. She missed her friends.
Her mother would also want to hear everything about the gossip and teenage drama. Her father would make sure that she discovered something about herself. He always was a fan of life lessons.
She knew that Terry, Rick, and Cassandra all lived not too far from her house but went to different schools. Surely, they would be able to hang out at some point. Lei and Jasmine both lived a couple of hours away from her house but they already made plans to hang out over the Winter Break.
"Brianna?" she heard.
She looked up and saw Cassandra in front of her.
"I'm sorry, what did you say?" she blushed.
"Do you want to play Truth or Dare?" Cassandra asked.
Brianna raised an eyebrow, frowning. The last time Cassandra had asked her that, the night had taken a turn and not in a positive way.
"I promise to not repeat what I did last time," Cassandra said as if reading her mind.
"Who's playing?"
"Everyone. Terry, Lei, Jasmine, Rick, Kaiden and ... Rowland."
"Rowland?"
"Yes, he agreed. You two are still avoiding each other?"
"I'm not but he is and I cannot be mad at him."
"He'll get over it and you guys will be friends, I'm sure of it."
"Thanks, Cass."
"I know that I might act like a hypocrite but I really appreciate you."
"Me too. I think we have our differences but that's not a reason for our friendship to end."
"Thank you, Bri, for giving me another chance."
"Of course. Now, let's spend the best night EVER!"

"Hey," Brianna said.
The blond-haired boy that once was her boyfriend turned to her. His pained look from earlier was now full of joy and as his eyes met Brianna's, he smiled.
"Hey," he replied. "I'm sorry, you were right."
"About what?"
"About being friends. I messed things up and it's not fair of me to just end things and not leave you the option to be friends. I really like you, Bri, and I know that we cannot get back together but I don't want us to leave things on something negative."
"I'm glad you're saying that. I really like you too, Rowland."
As Brianna turned to the group, her eyes met Cassandra who was staring at them. When she gave her a thumbs up with a confused look, Brianna nodded and Cassandra silently clapped, smiling.
She had managed to put an end to all the fights and everyone was on good terms but the thought of it being the last night with her new friends made her heart sink.
