At the sound of her alarm, realization hit her. It was the last morning at the surf camp. The camp she dreaded so much and the camp she hated before coming but it all changed as soon as she stepped into the reception area.
Jasmine immediately made her feel at ease and she got to meet incredible people. The four weeks had felt like months but also days. So much had happened but it had gone by way too fast.
The fear of not fitting in and being judged had worried her to her stomach before coming. The memories of meeting another Melanie Lenoir or a Callum Rayne tortured her mind. She had compared Rowland to Callum many times but she knew that they were very different. Rowland always respected her.
Popularity had always frightened her and she constantly ran away from it as if it was some disease. Suddenly having many friends and fitting in so easily and well surprised her but she enjoyed it. It had its perks and disadvantages.
As she headed to the pile of clothes that was on the floor, she saw her three roommates still asleep. She had always been very anxious and had to get things done early. She began making four piles of clothes for each one of them.
The number of times they had swapped and borrowed each other's clothes was immense but Jasmine, Lei and Cassandra made her believe in friendship. They made her reconsider her fear of talking to others and they made her believe in friendship.
No matter how difficult it had been with Cassandra, they always managed to find a middle ground. They knew when they were wrong and they apologized to start over. Melanie had never once said "sorry", she had continued stabbing Brianna in the back for no reason.
Rowland made her believe in love at first sight. He understood her and he listened when she needed someone to talk to. He had trouble accepting their breakup but he also accepted that they would never be more than friends after what he had done.
Maverick and she had gone through similar troubles, accepting themselves, but they both managed to grow during that summer. He was happier than ever with Kaiden and Brianna was beyond words happy with Terry.
Terry had stood up for her and he stayed by her side even when she was dating Rowland. He waited for her to love him back and understood her better than anyone else. He was never jealous of Rowland and he was not just her boyfriend, he was her best friend.
She had no idea if these people would stay in her life after that summer but she knew that they would hold a special place in her heart forever.
"What are you doing so early?" a voice groaned.
Brianna turned around and saw Jasmine's morning face peeking out of her bed. Her eyes were half open and her hair was a mess.
"Packing up," she whispered.
"Oh come on, enjoy your last morning and get back to bed."
"I can't and anyway, I'm almost done."
"What?! Since when are you up?"
"About twenty minutes."
"Ugh, fine, I'll get up as well then. Your organizational skills are making me feel guilty."
She rolled out of bed, before falling on the floor with her blanket wrapped around her. With difficulty, she managed to get out of the blanket and joined Brianna who had started putting her clothes in her suitcase. Jasmine's clothes were already sorted and neatly folded by Brianna so she followed her and began packing.
"Four weeks flew by, huh?" Jasmine said.
"For sure, I cannot believe it's - over."
"Aw, Bri, we'll see each other soon, don't worry."
