When Garen and Verkin arrived there were already 100 soldiers in the gate waiting for Garen. They saw Verkin and just observed this tall bulky man, Verkin felt their stares but stayed quiet when there was a yordle who greeted Garen. She had a blonde hair with a full set of armors but the strange thing was how there was a large golden hammer twice her size that she was carrying behind her.
"Commander Garen, the numbers are unknown due to the mist. Though seeing the scale I think its better to assume they're over a thousand of them," the yordle said and Garen nodded.
Verkin walked beside Garen and the Yordle looked at Verkin while he just ignored her gaze. He made sure his eyes were hidden but he could somehow see clearly as if they weren't there in the first place. It was true, the mist was getting nearer and shrieks could be heard inside it. The rumbling must have been caused by them seeing as how the mist was enough to stretch like the ocean. It glowed this dark greenish color as it moved. Verkin observed and tried not to get in anyone's way.
"Do you need my help?" Verkin asked and Garen was contemplating on the idea. He seen how Verkin could handle things but it may be limited due to the eyes of the people. The idea of asking for help from who he fought against seems to be also weird but a voice interrupted his thoughts.
"Who are you?" the Yordle asked seriously as she looked at Verkin and Verkin stayed quiet.
"If your a civilian please evacuate, we don't really want to have any damages in our side," the Yordle continued. She did see the weapons behind Verkin but he was still a stranger.
"Poppy he is Verkin, I fought him against the rift on our battle against Ionia," Garen said and Poppy just flinched.
"Still," Poppy said with visible worry. Verkin just smiled and chuckled gaining the attention of the two.
"I can handle anything that comes my way. If I'll get injured then the fault is mine unless someone stabs me in the back," Verkin said seriously.
"Then, can you help us?" Garen said and Poppy just observed the two. Verkin nodded and reached out for the spear that had the head pf a machete.
"As long as it doesn't go against any rule then I'll oblige," Verkin asked and Garen chuckled.
Just as the mist was getting nearer the troop also arrived, 700 troops was present. 200 carried shields paired with a spear, 400 carried swords and the remaining 100 seems to be archers. Verkin waited for Garen to fix their formation before they headed out. Verkin was with Garen and Poppy in the front line. The mist is now in front of them and Verkin secretly poured some magic in his eyes, he was debating to share it with the others since they don't really like magic.
Verkin's eyes grew wide, the enemy numbers could easily topple the soldiers and would surely be a problem but he was here. Verkin felt the adrenaline rushing to his body but he remained calm especially when an arrow was coming from behind him. He leaned and caught it before it could pass them and Garen was confused also angry by the fact that someone had the audacity to harm someone near him. Garen and Poppy turned to look but Verkin just smiled as he snapped the arrow in two.
"Vayne, I told you to hide your bloodlust," Verkin said and Garen was surprised to see her appearing behind Verkin.
"I felt like I did it right," Vayne said and sighed angrily. Verkin just chuckled and Garen was curious how they were friendly in a way.
"Well, you didn't." Verkin said coldly and just looked forward. He could see the monsters now.
They were corpses that had green eyes along with phantoms that caused the mist. Verkin looked at Garen and saw how he seems worried, who wouldn't be when the numbers are against them. Garen just gripped his sword and raised it forward before taking in a deep breath.
