*The following scenes were written before Alley was added to the storyline and when Kingsfire and I were still dating*
Coming Home
[Freyr and Mitch follow the other boys through the doorway into a long, dimly lit tunnel that is so narrow they have to walk in single file. After a quarter mile, the tunnel opens up into a huge temple-like gathering space. The hideout is built inside of the mountain while maintaining the natural structure. A large pool with a carved stone fountain sprouting out from the middle sits in the center of the room, with the sun shining down on the burbling water from an opening in the rock overhead. Various members of The Serpent's Hand are milling about. A trio is huddled over an outcropping in the mountain that is being used as a table, and appear to be in the middle of an intense discussion. A group of five, their faces bright with anticipation, move quickly into the main space then disappear down another side hallway.]
[As soon as Freyr and Mitch emerge from the tunnel, there is a lul to the chatter in the room, and soon the entire gathering space falls into dead silence. Every Serpent's Hand member has stopped what they are doing and is staring at the two strangers in their secret headquarters.]
Mitch: *whispering* Um...guys, are we sure about th-
[The silence is shattered by an excited squeal.]
Unknown: KINGSFIRE!
[A young girl in overalls comes darting out of the stationary crowd, her pigtails flying behind her as she runs forward with open arms. Kingsfire's anxious expression melts into a smile as he starts to kneel down, but the girl is much faster than anticipated and has her arms wrapped around his torso before he can even bend over.]
Kingsfire: Spooky!
[Kingsfire leans down slightly to wrap his arms around her in a hug, and she nuzzles her head into his chest. She pulls back to look up at him with a wide grin.]
Spooky: Kings.
Kingsfire: What.
Spooky:
Spooky: You smell.
Kingsfire: *pouts* HEYYY, NO YOU!
Spooky: *grins* NO YOU!
[The other guys are standing behind the pair, watching with varying facial expressions of bewilderment, shock, confusion, and amusement. The rest of The Serpent's Hand members in the gathering space return to their activities as if this is nothing out of the ordinary. After a moment, Spooky pulls away and is practically bouncing on her toes with excitement.]
Spooky: She's gonna be so happy to see you.
Kingsfire: *blushes slightly* Yea?
Spooky: *nods* She's been trying to hide it, but she hasn't stopped talking about it since you called her and said you were finally coming back.
[Spooky grabs Kingsfire's hand and starts to pull him forward.]
Spooky: Come on, we have to go!
Kingsfire: HANG ON, HANG On just a second, GEEZ.
[Kingsfire pulls Spooky back to stand next to him and finally looks up to address the rest of the group.]
Kingsfire: Guys, this is Spooky. She's my...unofficially but pretty much officially my daughter.
Spooky: *waves* Hewwo.
[They all go bug-eyed.]
Benji: I'm sorry, what?
Vyntage: This dude has a kid?
Freyr: I did not see that one coming.
[Kingsfire lets out a snort.]
