Historically, The SCP Foundation was a peaceful, if not cold-shouldered, organization. Their goal was to contain and document SCPs in the world, but they had little real concern for those affected by their tests and experiments. This single-minded approach had given The Foundation a reputation as something people should avoid.

One staff member, known as Knox, concluded that The Foundation was not getting answers as efficiently as it could. He saw potential for The Foundation to be in complete control of the region by harnessing the powers of SCPs, and became determined to make this vision a reality.

Knox started off small by persuading other staff members to his side, and over time, his group of believers began to grow. After gathering hundreds of followers, he broke into The Foundations Headquarters, killed the current Administrator, and declared The Foundation as his own. Rebellions within The Foundation were quickly subdued after a pair of guards were thrown into SCP-096's containment as punishment.

The rest of the O5 were tracked down and either incarcerated or eliminated. Within a matter of days, The SCP Foundation was transformed into a dangerous organization that sought to hunt down persons of interest who were unaffected by SCPs or responded differently to their powers. Knox believed that anyone who was immune to SCPs posed a threat to his power and wanted them to either be eliminated or used in The Foundation's experiments.

Unknown to him, two of his own scientists possessed these abilities, and they fled The Foundation Headquarters as soon as they heard about Knox's plans to capture those types of people. The couple escaped into the rural areas of the region, the furthest place away from Headquarters, and built themselves a home.

The next 10 years passed peacefully. The couple had two sons and lived a quiet life out in the forest. The boys were taught about the dangers of The SCP Foundation and how to properly contain various types of SCPs, but were never given any details about their parents' previous life.

One day, while the parents were out on the edges of their farm, they spotted a staff member from The Foundation. To protect their boys from being discovered, the two of them approached this staff member and were immediately taken away into custody. The Foundation soon returned to search the house, but the boys were with a neighbor, and their existence remained a secret from Knox.

When the boys returned home the next day and discovered their parents were gone, they were distraught and didn't know what to do, so they returned to their neighbors and asked for help. Their neighbor said they would be around to help the boys with whatever they needed until their parents came home.

Ever since their parents disappeared 8 years ago, Freyr's suspicions about the SCP Foundation have grown exponentially, and he has taken it upon himself to teach himself and Mitch how to protect themselves in case they ever see The Foundation in the area.

They are best friends with the neighbor's sons, Gerrie and Tyr, but are unaware that the family is members of an organization called The Serpent's Hand. It was created to free SCPs and anomalous beings from The Foundation's grasp, and ever since Knox started targeting persons-of-interest, The Serpent's Hand has broadened their mission to rescue these people from him.

A task force within The Serpent's Hand, formerly known as the Shadow Kraits, was divided after a failed mission five years ago when one of them sacrificed himself to protect the others, and he was taken prisoner by The Foundation. Those that remained blamed each other, which resulted in them splitting into two groups: the Blood Lyres and the Ghost Racers. The Blood Lyres believe him to be doomed, while the Ghost Racers refuse to give up hope.

After so many years of torment and tyranny, is the price of freedom from Knox still worth the cost?
