The lonely captain

part 1

Lilith was the newest recruit for the Levi squad and always made food for everyone, made sure stuff was clean while Levi was away as well as made food for them to take on their expeditions, and when Levi was extra busy she would run around base delivering stuff for the captain. She was doing this for a while and eventually she got to go out on expeditions with them. But after one trip outside the wall ended with most of the squad dying. Going back to base she noticed Levi was more quiet and distancing himself from people. Going to his room he sat at his desk starting to fill out the paperwork that followed.

Going to the kitchen she made Levi something special. She cooked a steak with mashed potatoes and gravy along with mushrooms and onions on the steak, taking it to him. She knocked gently knowing to tread lightly right now or else she could make the captain lash out at her. Her personality if you asked any of the other squad members they would say motherly. She paid attention to details and especially the emotions of everyone around her so if someone was not acting like their normal selves she noticed and would immediately go check on them when she had time.

Levi with no emotion in his voice set down his papers he was working on and sighed. "Enter.." he has less emotion in his voice than normal but he couldn't let anyone know he was affected by what happend. Opening the door carefully she looked at him sadly. "Here captain...I made you something to eat.." she set the plate down making sure to avoid his papers. Going over to his tea kettle she started to boil water to make him some tea. "Captain I know you don't like others knowing your emotions to anyone but I can still tell when something is bothering you..." pouring the water into his cup she put some tea leaves in, letting it sit she grabbed his cloak which had been ripped during his expedition.

Getting out a needle and thread she swiftly thread it through before sitting down on his bed, stitching the seam back together carefully she didn't talk to Levi at all she was just in the room so he wouldn't have to be alone while he did his work. Smiling at him she could tell he was enjoying her company without even saying anything to her at all, after being alone for so long and almost losing her sanity she knew exactly what he felt like at times, seeing everyone around you die and constantly feel like it's your fault.

Getting up after she finished sewing up his cloak, Lilith folded it and handed it back to her captain so he could inspect her handy work. Setting down his papers he grabbed it from her and almost gave a small smile. "Maybe I'll come to you anytime I need repairs done to my clothes. Not like it would happen often but still there are moments when they get ripped because one of the cadets got themselves into trouble." taking a sip of his tea he got up and put his cloak away then went back to his desk starting to eat the food Lilith had made for him. One bite in and he already started to feel better.

It wasn't often that the squad got a hold of meat mainly because it was a special occasion food for them but Lilith made something for him that tasted truly amazing and he could tell she just wanted to do something nice so he didn't feel so alone. "Lilith thank you for making this, it's more than I can say. As long as I've been a captain nobody expert hanji and Erwin has ever bothered to check up on me. Or just keep me company. I know I don't say this unless I mean it but thank you for this."
