“Yay awards tomorrow!” Junlin said excitedly as him and his friends were sitting in the hall a few weeks later during award ceremony rehearsals.
“Awards?” Zhenyuan asked curiously. Being an online student, there was a good number of things he didn’t really know.
“Yeah you know, the awards for students? Held every school year?” Junlin answered him as if he knew. When he saw how clueless he was, he started to explain. “They give awards for the best performing student, most disciplined student, most sporty and the like.”
“Oh,” Zhenyuan finally understood. “That sounds fun. Is it like an award ceremony?”
“So have you picked what to wear Chengxin?” Yaowen asked him. “You’re obviously getting the award for most social student.”
At the mention of Chengxin’s award, Yaxuan smiled. He wondered if Chengxin was going to be his date. Well it was probable since they were dating or whatever the hell it was. Yaxuan himself was probably going to receive an award for best performing student.
“Yeah I picked out a suit,” Chengxin answered seriously.
“And who are you taking as your date?” Haoxiang asked next.
Chengxin pursed his lip and didn’t say a thing. Yaxuan expected his name to be mentioned, but maybe Chengxin wasn’t ready to say that to yet.
“What about you Junlin?” Yaowen asked him.“Me? I’m fine going alone.” he shrugged.
“But you’ll look like a loser.” Chengxin protested.
“I don’t mind.”“What about you Yaowen? You’re obviously winning for most sporty student. Who are you going with?” Junlin asked him.
Haoxiang looked at him half expectantly and half-annoyed. If he wasn’t thinking of taking him, he was officially a jerk.
“I don’t know, I also don’t mind being alone.” Yaowen admitted.
“So you two are both going to look like losers?” Chengxin asked. “Why don’t you just take each other?”
“Well there’s an idea.” Junlin shrugged.
“What!?” Haoxiang suddenly spoke, even though he wasn’t planning to. “You have to take me.”
“Wait I really want to go with Yaowen too, I wanna go with someone who will win an award.” Junlin smiled.
“Ah well…” Yaowen stammered as he looked at the two of them. The other boys covered their mouths as they fearfully waited for Yaowen’s decision. “I’d like to take the both of you so pick nice suits.”
“What’s so special if I have to share you with someone else? Are you trying to get into the bad boy vibe? Two people on both sides…you’re so petty Yaowen, make up your mind.” Haoxiang said emotionally, he was obviously getting angry.
“Don’t call him that,” Junlin intervened, “and besides you’re already getting an award for most disciplined student, why would you want to stand with him?”
“Because…”
“Because what!?” Junlin ranted.
“OMG Junlin that’s not fair, we all know Haoxiang kinda likes Yaowen,” Chengxin commented lowly.
“Well why don’t you want to go with him!?” Haoxiang shot the question back at Junlin.
Junlin shrugged. “Because he’s my friend…and like I said, I want to go with someone who’s receiving an award so we don’t look like two losers. Yet you’re receiving an award anyway.”
“Guys,” Yaowen raised his arms. “Okay, you guys just get dressed up and I’ll pick the one who impresses me most. So you better look great or else you’ll miss your chance.”
“Yaowen that’s not nice,” Yaxuan smacked the back of Yaowen’s head.
“Look Yaowen, it only makes sense for us to go together, I don’t know why Haoxiang has to be so dramatic.” Junlin complained.
“Fine,” Haoxiang got up from his seat. “See you at the awards Yaowen, bye.” without waiting for a response, Haoxiang walked out of the hall.
“Do I have to follow him?” Yaowen groaned.
“Yes!” the other boys except Junlin screamed in unison.
