“I think I need to help you,” Chengxin said to Yaowen as he entered his room with Jiaqi and sat down on the chair by the study desk.
“This thing…of having two people like you…I can’t handle it.” Yaowen answered, lying down on his bed looking up at the ceiling. “It’s your speciality, not mine.”
“Yeah so you need to pick one. I see, both the boys are quite your type but if you ask me, I’d say you pick someone who challenges you to be the best you can be, the ones who let you mess around are never good news…right Jiaqi?” Chengxin stated.
“He’s kidding you, you need someone who can let you mess around not someone who will take your relationship too seriously. You’re too young, you need to have fun.” Jiaqi advised, standing next to the study desk and leaning on it.
“Says the guys whose boyfriend broke up with him.” Chengxin teased.
“For your information, I broke up with Zhenyuan, not the other way round.”
“Anyway,” Chengxin looked at Yaowen. “I pictured you with Junlin….have you tried having an actual romantic conversation with him instead of throwing the ‘good friend’ label around?”
“Well not really but sometimes I feel like Junlin is just a really good friend, sometimes I feel like it’s not that.” Yaowen shrugged.
“Who are you more comfortable with?” Chengxin asked next.
“I don’t know. I’m very comfortable with Junlin of course and we get along so well, but when it comes to romance, I think I’d be more comfortable with Haoxiang. I can’t really think of dating Junlin without laughing at myself.”
“Hmm…I don’t know what to say about that.” Chengxin continued. “It’s good to have someone you can get along with in the long run, and that’s Junlin. But sometimes you can make the mistake of ruining a perfectly good friendship by adding labels. My worry is that you could end up ruining your friendship. On the other hand, it means you’re more romantically compatible with Haoxiang which is a great thing. But romance doesn’t always last, so you kind of need to be comfortable with that person not only as a lover but as a friend as well.”
Yaowen sighed. “I don’t know what to do.”
“Chengxin,” Jiaqi put his hand on Chengxin’s shoulder to keep him from saying more. He then turned to Yaowen. “I’m worried that if you force yourself to make a decision quickly, you may make the wrong one…and then you may regret it. You’re still indecisive, you should take a break.”
Chengxin widened his eyes and looked at Jiaqi. “What the heck? You don’t have such a right…”
“It’s not fair, I think the pressure on Yaowen is too much. Come on Yaowen, you need a break from all the pressure.” Jiaqi shrugged.
Yaowen sat up and nodded. “I guess you’re right.”
“I’ll tell the boys for you, in case you won’t be able to address it on your own.” Chengxin concluded and nodded.
