"Junlin and Yaowen are dating?” Zhenyuan read from his cellphone then looked up at the rest of his friends. “What the hell?”
“What!?” Haoxiang was obviously the first to react. “No it can’t be.”
The rest gritted their teeth and looked at him. The fact that Yaowen and Junlin were both absent from the breakfast table on Saturday morning was enough to solidify that they may have indeed been dating. In actual sense, both of them had stayed up late watching the soccer match.
“Sorry Haoxiang…” Chengxin started.
“No he sabotaged my relationship with Jackson…and now he’s getting into a relationship?” Haoxiang balled his fists angrily.
“Not this again,” Yaxuan face palmed.
A while later, Junlin and Yaowen showed up at almost the same time. They got their food and sat down with their friends, while Haoxiang looked at the two in disgust.“So how did the match end?” Chengxin asked the two.
“Of course Real Madrid won.” Junlin answered proudly.
Haoxiang got up from his seat and walked over to another table and sat down there. His friends looked at him curiously, before looking at each other.
“Why did he go there?” Jiaqi asked cluelessly.
Nobody answered him of course, so Chengxin knew he had to take the initiative. “Well nobody knows, we’ve just learned to start ignoring him. He’s always been causing drama since he fell in love with Yaowen.”
“Did you guys hear that Yaowen likes Jiaqi!?” Haoxiang announced to the people on the table he was sitting on.
“What?” Zhixin asked skeptically. “I’m pretty sure he’s dating Junlin.”
“Yeah he is but he also likes Jiaqi,” Haoxiang continued and folded his arms, proud of his lie. “So he basically wants to date many guys.”
“I’d never expect that from him!” Ziyi commented next.
“He’s keeping it a secret Ziyi, cause he doesn’t want to seem like a player,” Haoxiang put his hand on his heart dramatically. “It’s almost as strange as Yaowen liking Yaxuan…yes he likes Yaxuan too…”
All the boys at the table looked at Yaowen curiously, and Yaowen wondered what was going on. He looked back at them for a moment.
“What?” he asked them.
“I always knew you’re a player!” Zhixin screamed. “I could tell.”
“What are you talking about?” Yaowen wondered.
Junlin looked at the boys curiously as well. He wanted to know what was going in. It wasn’t that he was very concerned about Yaowen’s love life, but he wanted to know whether Yaowen’s statement in the lounge was actually him playing with him or he was serious.
“You like so many boys!” Zhixin answered. “Or rather try to play with? I mean you can’t like that many people at once.”
“What?” Yaowen raised an eyebrow in confusion.
“Hey Junlin how do you feel about that?” Zhixin asked him and stood up from his seat.
“I don’t know, why should I care?” Junlin shrugged.
“Come on, did you guys agree to keep it hush-hush? There’s nothing to be embarrassed about, even boys fall in love.” Zhixin answered. “We all know anyway.”
“Know what?” Yaowen asked, he was honestly confused.
“Come on Yaowen, don’t act confused. You really are a player…I wonder when you’re going to make moves at Yaxuan.”
Yaxuan spat out his orange juice and looked at Yaowen then at Zhixin. “He’s my friend! Eww!”
“Riiiight.” Zhixin nodded sarcastically.
“Huh?” the boys asked each other in confusion on the table, but Jiaqi had given up at trying to understand how things worked.
“What a loser,” Haoxiang scoffed.
“I wonder when you’re gonna try moves on Jiaqi.” Zhixin continued. Everyone’s attention was now on the two tables.
“Hey!” Chengxin protested.
“What’s going on!?” Yaowen got up. When he noticed Haoxiang looking at him with a stank eye, he got it figured out. He angrily marched to him. “What the hell are you doing!? Telling Zhixin and his friends lies about me so they spread it!? How can you even do that!? You expected me to like someone like you!? You’re just a really dramatic person!”
“Yaowen,” Haoxiang stood up with tears in his eyes. “Why do you do this!? Among all of us, I’m always the one you’ve treated badly! You like everyone but you don’t seem to like me! What’s wrong with me!?”
“Okay calm down…” Zhixin raised his hands, trying to quiet the situation. He thought it was funny but now it was becoming dramatic and he didn’t want to be involved.
“You make me feel so worthless and pathetic…and when you do something mean, I forget all the good things I’ve ever heard about myself in life.” Haoxiang continued.
Yaowen felt a bit sorry. “It’s not that…look I’m sorry I made you feel that way.” he slowly and nervously put his hand on Haoxiang’s shoulder, then pulled him for a hug. “It’s okay. We need to…seriously talk.”
Haoxiang nodded, and the two walked off. Junlin watched the two as they disappeared, and a part of him felt angry or dissapoitned. Yaowen’s statement in the lounge had managed to make him see him in a different light.
