I think Blondie and I had reached a silent truce after yesterday since he started talking to me a lot more than before. Granted, he didn't talk to me at all before, so him just saying a simple, "Hi." was more than his usual malicious glare, and I wasn't complaining.
We even started walking in complete silence next to each other. It was by coincidence the first few times, but it was automatic after that. We didn't talk at all, or even acknowledge it, but it was better than our previous relationship.
One day, we were walking in silence to our 5th class of the day when a notebook fell out of the bag slung over his shoulder.
I stopped and walked over to it, crouching down to grab it, when I noticed a folded piece of paper with Kirishima's name on it. And it was in Bakugou's handwriting.
It took me by surprise considering he's always brushed Kirishima off. In fact, he's written everyone in our friend group off as either below him or just useless. So the fact that he was going to give Kirishima a note was strange.
I'm not one to snoop, and I'm definitely not one to steal, but I was intrigued, and maybe a little jealous, so I pocketed the note and picked up the book, catching up to Bakugou who stood waiting for me.
I handed it to him and we continued walking.
I could feel him eyeing me a few times, almost as if he knew what I saw. I struggled to keep my cool as we continued walking to class.
As soon as I sat down, I looked across the room at Bakugou, who was listening to Kirishima talk about Crimson Riot.
I discreetly took the crumpled piece of notepaper out of my pocket and opened it.
"I like you."
My stomach churned as if I were riding a rollercoaster and I had a lump in my throat as if I had just dry swallowed a big pill.
I looked over at him again and then back at the note.
"Godammit, I hate this." I thought, looking over at him again.
This time, he was looking back at me.
I quickly looked away and crumpled the note into a little ball, dropping it next to my bag.
I got up and went to the bathroom.
Aizawa wouldn't care anyway, he was sleeping.
I leaned against the back wall and tapped my foot, scowling as I immersed myself in thought.
I had so many questions.
How long has Bakugou been crushing on Kirishima? Does Kirishima like him back? Why do I feel guilty about liking him now...
My thoughts were interrupted by footsteps in the distance, and they were getting closer.
I darted into a stall and stood on one of the toilets so whoever was in here wouldn't know I was there. I didn't feel like talking to anyone right now.
"Oh come on Levadia,I promise you no one knows what's going on! Humans are stupid anyway." Fukutsu's voice was loud and clear from the doorway.
"They're not as stupid as you think, you know." Kumunui said.
"Look, if anyone did know, I would know that they did. But they don't." Fukutsu replied in a nonchalant tone.
"And how can you be so sure?" Kumunui asked.
"People aren't exactly careful with what they think. Humans especially, considering they have their "moral codes" to follow." Fukutsu said.
"Isn't that a breach of privacy?" Kumunui argued.
"Oh please! You're one to talk. You literally violated a federal law to find out where one girl went to school." Fukutsu was starting to escalate the conversation.
"Maybe because you were going to kill her!" Kumunui snapped.
"Well that wasn't my decisio-"
"SH." Kumunui shushed Fukutsu after hearing my foot slip off the toilet in an attempt to see them through the crack in the stall door.
"Dude, relax." Fukutsu snarled. "There's no one here, promise.""Well ever since I inhabited a mortal body, my ability to sense essences has been taken away, so I wouldn't be so sure." Kumunui replied snarkily.
"Well that explains a lot." Fukutsu uttered sarcastically.
"Look, this conversation was dangerous and unnecessary." Kumunui replied, clearly fed up with Fukutsu. "If you have anything important to say, say it now, because this was pointless."
"I know you have a piece of my mirror." Fukutsu's voice suddenly got serious.
There was silence for a few seconds before Kumunui sighed.
"If I did, I would hand it over now because there would be no point in keeping it. But I don't." She explained.
"Except you do." Fukutsu said, still serious. "Hand it over."
"I don't have it." Kumunui insisted.
"Fine." Fukutsu's footsteps got farther away. "Have it your way. But Just know, I'll be watching." She walked out and Kumunui followed a few seconds later.
I peeked out from the stall and, seeing no one, I stepped out and stood there for a moment, catching my breath as my heart pounded in my chest.
I knew Fukutsu was weird, but Kumunui too? This was just getting weirder and weirder and harder to understand. At least I can be sure of something right now.
I really shouldn't trust anyone.
