"We're here!" Aidan announced as we pulled up to the airport. He took this way, though, where he had to park his car at the top, since we were leaving it there. Once he did so, he parked somewhere and took his keys out. We sat there for a while. "Ready to go?" He asked, as he made eye contact with me. I nodded my head, "Yeah, let's go." We both got out of the car, grabbed our bags, and closed the doors. Aidan started to walk towards the bridge (to cross over) and I started to follow behind him. That's when I noticed and realized something. As I was walking, I was looking down, and something shiny kept hitting my eye. It was the knife in Aidan's shoe. I quickly caught up to him, and started to walk beside him. "You good?" He asked, very confused. "You still have your knife, and most likely your gun, still on you." I whispered to him.
"Don't worry about that." He said to me, Aidan was acting like everything was completely fine. Now, I'm anxious. What the hell is this kid trying to accomplish? After what felt like decades crossing the bridge, we finally entered the building. I followed Aidan over to where we had to check our bags in. I felt like a dog as I was following him. Then again, I've never been in an airport before. I only know what happens, because I have seen a lot of TV shows. Aidan, ignoring the fact that he has weapons on him, really started to get under my skin. I wasn't really paying any attention to the lady that was checking out bags, and Aidan had to answer the questions for me, and do all the talking.
"Ready to go?" Aidan asked, as he gently hit my arm to get my attention. I looked at my arm (where his hand touched me), and then back at him. "Um, yeah, let's go." I said. I picked up my bag, and Aidan picked up his own. We started walking towards the security, and the only thing I could see was the knife in this kid's shoe. We waited in line (for the person to see our ID's and scan our tickets) for a while. We kept getting closer, and closer to the front. When we were the next ones in line, I pulled Aidan's right arm back, making him move his body closer to mine, so he could hear what I had to say. "You are going to go to juvie." I whispered through my teeth. "I'll be fine." He said back. "Next." The guy said. Aidan and I walked over. "May I see some ID?" He said. I looked at his name tag, and saw that his name was Cole. We both pulled out our ID's and showed them to Cole. "Okay," Cole said, as he handed us back our ID's, "tickets?" Since Aidan had both of our tickets, he was the one that scanned them. "Alright, you guys are okay to go." Cole said, as he smiled at us a little. Aidan snatched back the tickets, and we walked passed.
Now, we had to get through security. Great. We got in line, and I couldn't stop looking down at his shoe. Aidan was acting like this is normal for him to do. Once we had to grab our bins, I put everything where it needed to be, and when Aidan took off his shoes, the knife was gone. What about the fucking gun? I questioned myself. The security guard motioned his hand, for Aidan to move forward, and he took a step. When he crossed, the sound didn't go off. I was more than confused on how. The guy then motioned his hand at me, and I crossed through with no problem. "What the hell?" I whispered to Aidan, as I grabbed my items out of the bin, and started to put my shoes on. "Watch." He smirked at me. When the next guy walked through, the alarm went off. The guard scanned him, and stopped at his waist. The guard lifted up the guy's shirt, and saw the gun. He threw him to the ground, and forced his hands behind his back.
No one saw it (except Aidan and I), but the gun slipped out, and went over to Aidan. He picked it up and put it back into the waistband of his pants. I looked at him, as I put the duffle bag strap over my right shoulder, and said, "How the hell did you do that?" "Magic." He said with jazz hands. "Wanna eat something before we get on the plane?" Aidan offered. "Um, yeah sure." I said. We started walking more down the food court, but couldn't find anything that we liked. "What about Active Culture?" I suggested, as I pointed over in the direction of where it was located. "Wow, I didn't even see that." He said. I took it as a yes, by the tone of his voice, and I was following behind his footsteps. We got in line (we were the third ones) and started to scan the menu. "Want to split the nachos, but with no cheese?" Aidan said, as he looked at the menu and then back at me. It would be rude if I said no, so I agreed.
When our time finally came, we walked up to the counter, and Aidan ordered for us (even though I offered to do it). "Okay, and would you guys like to take a survey?" A girl with wavy brown hair asked. "What's the survey?" Aidan asked. "Just to see if people are vegan, vegetarian, or if they eat here because they want to." Kendall informed us (yes, I read her name tag). Aidan looked back at me, and I nodded my head. "Yes, please," he said. Kendall gave us both, little slips of paper, and a pen. The options were vegan, vegetarian, or neither. I marked mine, and handed it to her; Aidan did the same. "Thank you, and your food will be ready soon." She said with a warm smile. Aidan and I left the line, and found a table to sit at. "What did you mark?" he asked me, after we sat down. "Vegetarian." I told him.
"What about you?" I asked. "Vegan." He responded. Well, at least we have another thing in common. Well...sort of. "What time does our flight leave?" I asked. Aidan pulled out his phone and said, "In about forty-five minutes." I started to mess with my hands. I tend to do this when I'm nervous, or if I don't know what to say. When a few seconds of silence passed, my phone started to vibrate. I took it out of my pocket, so I could decline it, but I saw that it was Nessa. "I'm gonna take this." I said to Aidan, as I got up from my seat and walked away from the table. "Hey." I said, happily (so she didn't suspect anything). "Hi! I know you kind of just left, but I just wanted to check in. Is everything okay?" Nessa questioned. "Yeah, everything is fine. Our flight is about to leave, in-" "Wait, our?!" Nessa announced, nervously but at the same time excited. Damn it! "Who else is with you?" She asked.
"Well, I bumped into this boy at the library earlier," I started to say, as I looked over and saw that Aidan was on his phone. I looked back down at my shoes, and continued, "and we bumped into each other, again, at the airport." I told her. "Aww!" Nessa squealed over the phone. "No. No, 'awws'." I said, quickly. "Mhmm." She responded, not believing me one bit. I looked back over at Aidan, and saw that he had the food in front of him. "Hey, I gotta go. I'll call you when we get into the hotel." I said. "Okay, be safe! I love you!" Nessa said. "I love you, too." I responded, as I smiled at myself. We hung up and I put my phone back in my pocket as I walked over to Aidan. "Sorry, that was my friend." I told him, as I sat down, and put a chip in my mouth. "No, worries." He responded. "I just booked our hotel; we're all set." He said. I put another chip in my mouth, and nodded my head. I hate how we barely know each other, because we never know what to talk about.
After a while, we both finished eating, and we got our bags together. "Ready?" Aidan asked, as he came back from throwing the plate away. "Yeah, I am." I said. Aidan started to walk, and I followed. It was a struggle to get to our gate, because there were so many people that just walked in front of me, and blocked my view of Aidan. Some guy (who looked to be in his thirties) bumped into me, and made me trip. Aidan turned around, and helped me get up. He then looked past me and said, "Hey, asshole!" The guy stopped walking, and angrily walked back over. "What the fuck did you say, prick?" Aidan was shorter than him, but he still walked close to him, and I heard him say, "Oh, believe me, I have a weapon on me right now, and don't think that I won't think twice about killing you." The guy looked at me, then at Aidan, and then he walked away. Aidan grabbed me by my right wrist and started to pull me in his direction. I felt like a toddler having their arm pulled by their mom.
I didn't even want to try to pull my arm away. If I did, then there would be an even bigger problem. I let him pull on me, until we got close to the gate. He stopped, and we both sat down. I know that I've said that I hate how we barely know each other, but maybe at this moment, it's a good thing. I was looking at my shoes, and watched them as they hit against each other. I want to go home. I don't even know why I would agree to this. I could have been with Nessa and Spencer right now, but instead I'm with a boy, who I don't even know, to go commit a murder. How fun. I mean who wouldn't want to do this? Aidan gently hit my arm, and I looked at him. "We're boarding now." He said, as he got up. I grabbed my bag, and got in line. After a few people in front of us went, Aidan pulled out, and scanned both of the tickets. The lady smiled at us as we walked down, but none of us smiled back.
We kept walking, until we were a few inches from the plane. There, we were greeted by the pilot. He shook our hands firmly and said, to everyone that passed, "Nice to meet you." With a welcoming smile. Aidan and I went over to our seats, which was located in the middle of the plane. My seat was by the window, and Aidans was right next to me. As we saw people walk past, no one sat next to Aidan (which made him happy). The pilot gave his introduction, and went over the safety rules, after everyone sat down, and was settled in. Aidan and I buckled ourselves in, and the plane started to move. My stomach started to feel queasy. I think I might have figured out my fear of heights, a little too late. That's great. I quickly closed the shade on the window, not wanting to see the sky as we started to go up. I closed my eyes, and took a few deep breaths.
"Are you okay?" Aidan asked. I opened my eyes to look at him. "Yeah, I just figured out my fear of heights a little too late." I told him. "Did you bring headphones, or air pods?" He asked. "Yeah, they're in my bag, why?" I said, as I slowly started to breathe in and out. Aidan took my bag and started to go through it. I didn't even turn my head to see what he was doing. He pulled out my air pods case, and took out the air pods. "Put these in your eras." He said, as he handed them to me. Although I was confused, I obeyed. When I did, he pulled out his phone. He opened up his settings and connected them to his phone. "What are you-" "Just, trust me." Aidan said, as he looked at me, and then back at his phone. I rolled my eyes, but then closed them. I then hear music playing in my ears.
It sounded nice. The person who was singing has a really pretty voice. Aidan took my left air pod out of my ear, which made me open my eyes. "It's New Light by John Mayer." He told me. I left my eyes open, and kind of started to look around the plane. "How long did they say the flight would take?" I asked. "Were you not paying attention?" He laughed a little. He had a cute laugh and an adorable smile (if I'm being honest). "About five to nine hours." he told me. "Great." I said sarcastically. "Just sleep. Any song requests to help you fall asleep?" he offered, as he started to open up his phone again. "You pick." I said, as I laid my head near the window. As I rested my eyes, I heard the song River Flows In You by Yiruma start to play. After tapping my fingers on my thigh, to the melody, I slowly started to feel myself fall asleep.
