Aidan started to drive for about two more minutes, and then he turned right into a parking lot. As he was trying to find a parking spot, I looked over at the building; it was pretty huge. I saw someone standing at the front, and they were letting people in, and pushing others away. Aidan stopped the car, and said, "Hand me my backpack." I picked up the bag from the floor, and placed it into his hands. He set it on his lap, and started to get what we needed out. He grabbed two knives, a gun, and our masks. He handed me my mask and one of the knives. I set my mask on my lap, and slipped the knife into my thigh strap. I then see Aidan put the other knife in his right shoe, and put the gun in his waistband. We both started to put our masks on, and tied the strings on the back of our heads. Aidan put his index finger under my chin, and his left thumb on it. He turned my head, so I could face him. I thought he was gonna kiss me, but then he just put his fingers against a design on my mask. "W-what did you just do?" I asked. "I turned on the microphone." Aidan said.
"Oh, well, thanks." I said, a bit embarrassed, because I thought Aidan was going to make the first move. "You're welcome, and let's go." He said, as he opened his door and closed it. I felt stupid for thinking that Aidan was actually going to kiss me. I got out of the car, and closed the door. Aidan put his arm out, and I linked my right arm with his, and put my hands around his arm. We started to walk towards the entrance. When we got there, a man was standing there. "Invitation?" he said. Aidan pulled out one invitation, and showed the man. "There's only one." He said. "It says plus one at the bottom." Aidan said, as he moved it closer to the man's face. "What relation are you to him?" He asked, as he looked at me, and tilted his head towards Aidan. "He's my boyfriend." I said. I was surprised that I didn't stutter when the word, "boyfriend," came out of my mouth. "Have a nice night, you two." The man said, as he took the invitation from Aidan, and placed it in a basket with all of the other ones.
Aidan and I then started to walk into the building. The room was even bigger than it looked on the outside. There was a glass chandelier, music was playing, and there were about a thousand people in the room. Some were dancing, some were talking, and others were drinking at the bar. Everyone had on different styled, and colored, dresses, suits, and masks. Aidan and I started to walk towards the bar, and I didn't let go of his arm. When we reached the bar, we both took a seat. "Two of your finest alcohol." Aidan said to the bartender, as he was cleaning out a cup. I was looking around the room, and saw a man sitting on a throne (yes, it was actually a throne). The person had two people standing beside him, with about ten people near that area. "Is that Andrew?" I whispered into Aidan's ear, so that way no one could hear me.
Aidan turned his head and said, "Yup, there's the bastard." "Here you go." The bartender said, as he placed two glass cups infront of us. "Thank you." Aidan said, as he scooted one of the drinks over to me, and placed one in his hand. We clinked our cups, and we both took a sip. "Damn, that's strong." I said, as I laughed a little. Aidan smiled at my comment, and then said, "First time drinking?" "Yeah." I responded. "You'll learn to love it." He smiled. "Ladies and gentlemen, when you hear your number get called, please take your positions on the dance floor." A girl on the announcement said. "Shit." Aidan said. "What is it? And what was she talking about?" I asked, as I looked at Aidan. "I forgot to mention that every mafia that I know of, does this dance routine, and I completely forgot to mention it." Aidan said. "What's our number?" I questioned. "152. It was on the invitation." Aidan told me. The lady started to call numbers, and didn't say ours yet. "Finally, number 152." "Fuck." Aidan and I said at the same time. He got a hold of my right hand, and we started to walk to the dance floor. We got into the position everyone else was in. Which was that the girl's right hand was on their partner's shoulder, and the other one was in their partner's hand (the guy's free hand was on the girl's waist).
"I know the dance, so try to follow my lead." Aidan whispered. I nodded my head, and took a deep breath. Derniere Danse by Indila started to play. Aidan started to move his feet left and right, and I followed. Then, everyone started to spin around, but were moving to different spots at the same time. When we stopped doing that, Aidan spun me around, and pulled me closer to him. I could feel the dance coming to an end, and before it did, the gentleman had to lean their girls back. From the corner of my eye, I saw that they then had to kiss. I knew Aidan wasn't going to kiss me, but then he started to move closer, and he pushed his lips onto mine. I felt like the world stopped moving, and the people in the room froze. My theory was right, Aidan's lips were soft.
The room filled up with applause, and Aidan pulled his head away, and picked me up (to where I was standing straight). I smiled, but then Aidan said, "It was just for the dance, so that way no one would suspect anything." My smile went away, and I felt like crying. "Of course." I said, as I removed my hands from him. Everyone went their separate ways, and Aidan and I went back to the bar. "I'm gonna try to get closer to Andrew." Aidan said; he then walked away from me. I guess Aidan doesn't see me more than a friend. I had my arms crossed (as they were seated on the counter) and looked over to my right (which was where Aidan was going). The guard let Aidan through, and he took a seat next to Andrew. "Hello, sir, who are you?" I heard Andrew ask (I heard him over the microphone that was hidden on my mask). "My name is Alex, and I am Mattia's cousin." Aidan lied. "Oh, yes, Mattia. His death was so tragic." "Yeah, it was, do you know who killed him? The police wouldn't tell me anything." Aidan said. "Yes, sadly, my son, Aidan, killed him." "You have a son?" Aidan asked. "Yes, but he was such a great disappointment. I wish he was never born." Andrew said. He said it so calmly, as if he said this a thousand times.
Although my feelings are very mixed about Aidan, all I wanted to do was give him a hug. "Why did you feel that way about him?" Aidan asked. "Why would I need to tell you?" Andrew asked. "You're right, I'm sorry. It's none of my business." Aidan said, you could tell that he wasn't trying to get on Andrew's bad side. "No it's that. It's just because I know who you are, son." Andrew said. Aidan got up from his seat and said, "I don't know what you're talking about." Andrew snapped his fingers, and I saw that two men approached Aidan, and they both got a grip of one of his arms. Andrew stood up, and took off Aidan's mask. Since Andrew had the mask in his hands, I could still hear what was going on. "Wow. My own son came to this, and lied to my face." Andrew said, acting like he didn't do anything wrong. "Put him in the basement." Andrew instructed, as he tucked the mask into Aidan's blazer.
I saw Aidan struggling to get out of their grip, but the men were stronger, and Aidan couldn't remove his arms from them. They walked Aidan over to the left, and he left my eyesight. I got up from my seat, and followed in the direction that they were going. I saw them walk Aidan down the stairs, and opened a door. I started to walk over, but I stopped and talked to a few people, so that way it wasn't obvious where I was going. When I reached the door, I saw there was a passcode that had to be entered. "You have to be fucking kidding me." I whispered to myself. The building was filled with talking, and people weren't even looking in my direction. I looked around, as I took off my right heel. I hit it against the keypad, and it broke. I turned the door knob, and it opened. I, honestly, didn't think that would work. I thought to myself. I put my heel back on, and opened the door more. When I walked in, and closed the door behind me, there was a huge hallway. I started to walk down it, for there was another door at the end. I finally reached the door, and opened it.
