note: as said before, book 2 is darker than book 1. Please keep the book tags in mind. Trigger warnings for this chapter is: depression, hospitalization due to medical emergency.
I may not remember to provide a trigger warning for each chapter so do keep in mind that there will be sensitive subjects just like book one. Thank you.
I promise not every chapter is going to be depressing ^^;

In the early hours of dawn, the hospital room was shrouded in the muted light of pre-sunrise. The air was still, the only sounds were the soft beeping of the machines and the distant rumble of thunder.
Taehyung lay in the bed, his eyes open and staring blankly at the ceiling. His mind was foggy, struggling to piece together the fragments of his memories. Each breath felt like a Herculean effort, his body heavy and unresponsive.
Where am I?
The thought drifted through the haze, slowly bringing him back to awareness. The sterile smell of antiseptic and the beeping of the machines filled the room, grounding him in the present. He shifted slightly, wincing as pain lanced through his chest. He looked down at his leg which was bandaged.
Fuck, my leg.
The realization brought with it a wave of confusion and fear. He remembered the gunfire, the searing pain, Jungkook's desperate voice calling out to him. His heart ached at the memory, the fear in Jungkook's eyes haunting him.
He gasped with the faintest of air at the realization.
Jungkook.
His body still a bit numb and buzzing from a minor case of sleep inertia, he turned his head slightly, expecting to see him there. The chair beside his bed was empty, a once-forgotten solitude enveloped him. His heart sank, a sense of loneliness washing over him.
This was a scene all too familiar to him.
Taehyung's eyes drifted to the window, the faint light casting long shadows across the room. The world outside seemed distant, almost unreal. He felt disconnected as if he were floating in a void, untethered from reality.
"...,"
He closed his eyes, trying to steady his racing thoughts. Everything felt surreal, like a nightmare he couldn't wake up from. The pain, the fear, the uncertainty—it all pressed down on him, suffocating in its intensity.
The door creaked open, and Taehyung's eyes snapped open, his heart leaping into his throat. Jungkook stepped into the room, his face drawn and weary. Their eyes met, and for a moment, neither of them spoke. The weight of their shared trauma hung heavy in the air, unspoken but palpable.
Ignoring the pain that shot through his leg wound, Taehyung struggled to sit up. His muscles protested, and his breath hitched with each movement, but he pushed through, determined to confront the mixed emotions gnawing at his heart.
