Roxy Raceway

Seeing Roxy Raceway made your heartbeat faster, it was so eerie and cool, the hallway leading to the raceway had hanging go-karts by the walls, trophies, statues, and big posters of Roxanne. Neon purple lights streaked on the oval pillars. Monstrous sized amps at the end of the hallway played fast and powerful music. You all felt excited and thrilled, and you hadn't even entered the racetrack yet.

Entering the Roxy Raceway office, you spot Roxanne at the counters. Your friends were already running for the Go-karts by the racetrack entryway but you stayed with your parents to pay for the passes. As your parents were collecting the passes Roxanne looked at you and trotted over. And suddenly a cold robot hand clamped on your shoulder, you looked up and Roxanne waved.

"I'll be watching you today champ, don't let me down."

Unsettled you replied "O-oh, uh of course I won't let you down. Will you be watching?"

She gave you a small playful push towards your parents, "Yes. Go kid, be a winner not a loser"

You were never really a fan of Roxanne, she always seemed bossy and a bit brutal towards kids, and very, very loud. And the fact that she never really answers questions.

"Go on Y/N you're with your friends at the Group 1 station, we will be watching from the side, okay?" Your mum/dad said, handing you the passes.

"Thank you, see you!" you shouted back at them whilst running towards the Group stations. There were your friends talking, one of them noticed you and waved.

"Jeez, what took you soo long!?" Said Charlie

"Sorry, Roxy was talking to me" you said, handing out their passes.

"Oh, so cool, what'd she say, what'd she say?" Shouted Fritz, bouncing up and down.

You chuckled and told them. You could see the jealousy in their eyes.

"So, she will be watching us, awesome!" Said Susie, fist pumping the air.

ITS TIME FOR GROUP 1 AND 3 TO GO PREPARE FOR THEIR RACE, the intercom overhead announced.

Other kids who were joining you were being ushered into their own suites. You and your friends went into Suite 1 where there were 4 suits ready for you to put on and 4 helmets. A worker stood at the side ready to help you if necessary. You laughed with the others as you squirmed and struggled into the suits, the worker was trying so hard to help.

"It won't fit on my head!" Susie said, squeezing the plastic bowl on top of her head

"I can help you if you keep still-" The worker helplessly said.

"The suit is too big!" Fritz whined

"This is gonna be... a long day" The poor worker huffed before helping Fritz.

A second announcement from the Intercom blasted through the metal door PLEASE MAKE YOUR WAY ONTO THE RACETRACK

The worker led you out the door and towards the racetrack. Bright neon colours embossed the walls and bright white lights shone on the shiny wooden like floor. You all felt like superstars walking up to your race carts.

And there they were the karts in all their glory. They were all the same colour, matching Glamrock Freddy's colour pallet, orange and blue. Yours was numbered 13. And there were 2 pedals, a green pedal for 'go/accelerate' and a red pedal for 'stop/break'.

"Get comfortable competitors!" Roxanne shouted through the intercom. You looked to where your parents were sitting, there was Roxanne a little in front holding a flag in her hand. You gave her a wave and she replied with a thumbs up. (BTW You and your friends are tall enough to drive without the raceway bots)

"Here are the rules, don't drive into anyone, stay in your carts and brake if needed, if we spot you doing anything you shouldn't be doing, your engine will stop and you will be eliminated!" The intercom said in Roxanne's voice. Everyone mumbled in excitement, facing right towards Roxy. She was going upstairs to a platform which hovered above the raceway. There she held up the flag. Everyone faced forward, ready to go.

"On your marks, get set, GO!" Roxy roared, waving the checked black and white flag. Everyone's engines screeched at the same time, the tires squeaking on the floor as you and your friends set off in front. You were all going extremely fast, the wind was all you could hear. But you kept your eyes in front and concentrated on turning sharp corners without slowing down. Before you knew it you were in 1st place.

"WHOOO!" You screamed as you passed the line, 4 laps were left to go.

"And Y/N comes first on the 1st lap, how will she/he do on the other laps?" you heard Roxanne shout through the intercom. You lost concentration for a moment, a kid catches up to you and gets incredibly close. The go-kart swerved left a bit, the kid next to you was trying to bash you off the racetrack. You sped in front as she stumbled back, her engines had been force stopped. You looked ahead, Fritz and Susie were now behind. Every turn you took, the tires screeched and popped loudly. You passed the 2nd lap, 3rd and 4th still in first place. You looked at your hands which were now aching from how tight you were gripping the wheel. Fritz soon came up next to you, you were now drawing.

"Come on, come on!" you shouted, Fritz kept in line with you the whole lap, and you passed the 5th lap, drawing 1st place with him.

"Well done. You somehow managed to keep 1st place for 5 laps, that is incredible!" Fritz said, offering his hand to help you out of the kart.

"Wow, that was so exhilarating" you huffed, holding onto his hand. Your parents ran towards you and congratulated you and Fritz. All the children glanced; you could tell they were jealous.

"Well done winners Y/N and Fritz, you were outstanding. Go onto your platforms and get your trophies!" Roxy shouted. The palladium was big, you and Fritz stood in first place, a random kid in 2nd place and Charlie stood in 3rd place. Roxanne each passed you a trophy and gave you fist bumps. Roxanne turned to you before you could go and get unchanged.

"I knew you would win, well-done competitor."

Your heart filled with joy, and you hugged the animatronic. You received no hug back but a small pat on the back.

"U-uh thanks kid, now go."

You let go and waved goodbye. You knew she did not like hugs, but it felt good. You met Roxy and your views of her changed. Before leaving the Raceway, you stood and stared at the whole place. Taking in everything, it felt amazing to be there. And you felt determined to go back.
