I arrived at the Daycare with excitement; I loved every single moment I got to spend there! I ran out the car and sprinted through the doors, leaving my parents to run after me. I stopped in front of the slide to let them catch up.
"Don't run off like that Y/N!" My mum scolded, and I felt guilt creep through me.
"Sorry... I'm just really excited!"
"I'm glad you are, but you still shouldn't run away!"
I apologised again and my parents told me when they'd come to pick me up.
"See ya bud!" My dad waved at me, and I waved back.
Finally I could go in!I giggled as I flew down the slide and landed messily in the ball pit. I must have caused a disturbance because Sun immediately ran over to me.
"That was quite an entrance!" He smiled, helping me out the ball pit. "Someone's excited today!"
"Yeah," I replied with utter joy. "I was really excited to be here today! I haven't been in 3 whole days!" I made a pouty face and Sun gave me a warm hug. I enjoyed his hugs; they made me feel loved.
"Well you're here now Sunshine, and I'm glad so too!"After a minute, I let go of him and began searching for things to do. Sun had to take care of someone who had fallen over, so I was left alone. I walked over to the arts and crafts table where two other people were sat, and placed myself on a chair next to them.
"Hi!" A girl around my age smiled. She had bright blue eyes and a wide smile. Next to her sat a boy who looked a lot younger and had the same eyes as the girl.
"Oh," she said, noticing me looking at him. "He's my brother! It's his first time too, isn't it?" She looked over at him, and all he did was attempt to eat a red crayon.
"That's not food, Rex!" She scolded. The boy, Rex, looked disappointed, and placed the crayon back in its box.
"I'm sorry about him..." the girl sighed. She looked over at him.
"It's okay!" I laughed, as I found that he was trying to eat it again. "You might want to get those away from him..." I pointed to Rex and the girl snatched the crayon and the box away from him. Suddenly, he began to wail, louder than I had ever heard.Sun sprinted over faster than I'd ever seen him sprint before, and cried "Is he okay???!!"
"Yeah, he's just sad that he can't eat the crayons." The girl giggled at the silliness of what she said. Sun looked relieved, and told us to keep him away from anything he'd try to eat. We said we would and he went on his way.Me and the girl chatted about everything really. Time flew by, and we had completely forgotten about Rex.
The next time I looked over at him, he was consuming an entire bottle of Sun's favourite glitter glue.
"GLITTER GLUE IS NOT FOR EATING!!!!!" The girl screamed and pulled it out of his mouth.
"SUN!!! SUN!!!!!" The girl began to panic, and so did I. Wasn't glitter glue lethal?! Was Rex going to die????!!!!!The girl began to cry as Sun finally made his way over.
"Are you okay Sunshine?!" He spoke in a soothing voice, which actually calmed me down significantly.
"M-my brother h-has just... just..." she couldn't continue before crying her eyes out.
"HE'S GOING TO DIEEEEEEE....." she wailed into Sun's arms.
"Who is?!" Sun couldn't comprehend the situation, so I decided to step in."He ate glitter glue." I sounded a lot calmer than I felt. Sun's draw dropped. His eyes went wide and he hugged the girl tighter.
"Y/N?" Sun looked at me dead serious, and I knew I had an extremely important job to do. "Can you please get the phone and put in the numbers below 'Rex's Parents'?"
I nodded my head vigorously and ran to the phone. I dialled the numbers and handed the phone to Sun."Hello? Yes, this is the Daycare Attendant. Is this Rex's parents? Good, oh please don't fret too much. Well, your son has... consumed an unknown amount of glitter glue. Yes, I know. Could you please come to collect him? Thank you, and I apologise for this inconvenience. We promise it won't happen again." Sun hung up and sighed.
"Do you guys have all your things with you?"
"Y-yes..." the girl sniffled.
"It will be okay Sunshine, I promise." He pulled her in for another hug, and before we knew it, their parents arrived.Once they had left, Sun turned to me. "I'm really proud of you Y/N for being so brave." I smiled, happy to have made Sun proud. Just then, I noticed my mum in the crowd of people outside.
"I'm sorry, my parents are here now..." I sighed and trudged to where my bag is.
"No worries! Remember, we'll see you again soon! Have a safe journey home!" I gave him one last hug and made my way out of the Daycare.
