The sight I was met with looked like it had been ripped right out of a movie. Much like the outside, the entrance's walls were coated in a clean white paint, however, paintings of varying sizes lined the walls. I began to inch forward, not realising I had stopped moving. Laura seemed amused by how shocked I was.
"Yeah, most people are shocked when they come over for the first time..." she giggled, a hint of nerves plaguing her voice. I guessed she'd lost friends over it, they might've thought she wasn't very nice because of how much money her parents made. But I didn't care, and made sure that she knew it.
"I think it's really cool, actually!" I grinned kindly. It must've eased her nerves because she immediately went back to her usual energetic self."Remember kids, don't make too much mess!" Phil called to us as we began sprinting up the stairs. We nodded, but quickly realised he couldn't see us.
I could barely breathe when we got up to the second floor. Laura was obviously used to the climb, and laughed a little too much at my lack of athleticism. Although, I couldn't help but grin.
"This is the one!" She pointed over at a door almost identical to all the others, except it had little planet stickers dotted around, and a blue and gold sign which read 'Laura'.Yeah, it was pretty obvious which one was hers.
"Alright Y/N," she began, signalling for me to sit on her bed with her. "What's first on the agenda?"
"Hmmm..."
We sat in silence for a moment, stunned that we'd waited so long and now had nothing to do.
"I've got it!!!" She jumped up onto her bed and leaped off, super-hero-style. I giggled at her antics, and she could barely contain her grin.
"What is it, Laura???" I asked, adding in extra dramatic effects.
"We can go play on my trampoline!"
I gasped, amazement and wonder rushing through me. I nodded way too enthusiastically and it was my turn to drag her around.Unfortunately, I had no clue where I was going, and ended up in the living room at least three times. Phil was watching TV, presumably having the afternoon off to look after us. Whenever we passed him, he'd wave and laugh, not gentle like his voice, but a loud, booming laugh. It kind of scared me...
"Y/N..." Laura sighed as we once again looped back to the living room. I was determined to find the garden though.
"Y/N! EARTH TO Y/N?" She shouted. I turned around, kind of annoyed my train of thought had been interrupted.
"Hm?" I asked with a hint of annoyance in my voice. She rolled her eyes, not in a mean way, and pointed over at the huge glass window in the living room. She then grabbed my arm and dragged me towards it. If I had inspected it more closely, I would have noticed the handle. It was a door. That explained Phil's amusement.
"Come on, silly!" She continued to drag me out of the door and into the garden, where my bare feet immediately connected with the soft grass.
I could tell why she wanted to take me here; it really was a sight to behold!
An even larger array of multicoloured flowers lined the tall wooden fence which, at the top, was carved in beautiful diamond shapes. The centrepiece was a cherry blossom tree, a fairly small one. It's petals we're scattered aimlessly but carefully along the ground, and as soon as the wind began to pick up, a blizzard of pink wrapped itself around the garden."Woah! Cool!" I gaped at the scenery around me as we journeyed further.
"Oh, you're in luck," Laura began, her face moulding into one of pride and confidence. "Because this isn't even the best part!" She giggled, and led me further down the almost dream like garden.Once we had gotten to the bottom, I let out a gasp. This part of the garden was absolutely full of play equipment: a slide, a swing set (with 2 swings!), a trampoline and a small climbing wall which was nailed to the shed wall. Laura seemed happy with my reaction, as a huge smile was plastered across her face.
"What should we play on first...?" I asked, already imagining the amount of fun we were about to have. She grinned and (once again) dragged me, which I had gotten used to by then. We ended up starting with the slide.
