On Monday...

Hinata's POV:

I walked into school, watching out for Tsukishima. Please don't be here, please don't be here, please -  GAH WHY ARE YOU HERE?

"Hey shrimpy." Tsukishima smirked, "Looking for someone?" I laughed nervously. "No?" I replied. "Great. We have a lot of time to spend together, don't we?" He smirked, wrapping an arm over my shoulder. I groaned. "What do you want me to do?"

"Hmm, let's start with something easy. How about get me a drink?" He said. I muttered under my breath, "Bastard, I shouldn't have asked him for help." I stomped off to the vending machine. Then I saw Kageyama. Again. His nose was taped up and he was getting some milk. I tried to hide, but he had already seen me. The air got thick with his pheromones, and I turned to face him, looking down at my feet as he approached me.

"Hinata. I'm sorry." Kageyama said. My head snapped up. I didn't expect an apology. "Let's break up. I- I can't stay with you after what happened. I'm so sorry." he continued. I felt my heart drop. I knew I was expecting this. I saw it coming. Our relationship had went downhill ever since that day. "O-okay, but we can stay friends? Right?" I asked, my eyes searching his. "Yeah," he breathed, relieved, "Yeah, of course." I smiled weakly, and his eyes flickered to somewhere behind him. "I'll get going now, Hinata. I'm glad we sorted this out."

"So, you guys broke up." I jumped at Tsukishima's voice. "Oh, uh, sorry. I'll get it now." I fumbled with my coin pouch, blinking to keep myself from crying. My headspace was in turmoil.

"You okay?" I heard him ask. I looked at him, surprised to see his eyes filled with worry. I quickly nodded and replied, "Yeah, I'm fine. I mean, I should've expected that. " Tsukishima rolled his eyes and asked, "I'm not asking whether you expected that. I'm asking if you're fine. " I sniffled.

 "Yes."

No, Tsukki. I'm not fine. I feel like my heart is going to break into millions and millions of tiny pieces.  It hurts so much.

"Do you trust me?" he asked. I was surprised by the sudden question.  "Yeah, yeah I do." I replied. I had no idea why he had recently became nice to me, but I knew that he at least genuinely cared about me. "Okay, then I can do this, right?" He pulled me into a hug.

I was stunned. In that instant, my walls came tumbling down.  I hugged him back, burying my head into his chest, and sobbed. I really liked Kageyama. I really did. Even if he had never liked me back in the first place. Hearing him say that we should break up hurt. I hurt so much. Even if I had expected it. "I really liked him, I really did." I murmured. "I know." He rubbed my back as I tightened my grip on him. He released some calming pheromones, and I sniffled.

Finally, I pulled away. "Better?" he asked. I nodded and looked away. Why was it that every time I saw him, I had to be crying? How embarrassing. He pat my head and said, "I'll leave you alone. Just call me if you need me."

As soon as he left, I covered my head in my hands and crouched down. I was still heartbroken, but I was really glad that Tsukishima was there. If he hadn't been there, I think I would have broken down from the loneliness inside me. I hugged myself, the warmth from his huge body lingering. I wished it had lasted longer.

Tsukishima's POV:

I turned around to take a last look at Hinata, and watched as he hugged himself. I had the urge to go over and hug him again, but decided against it. My face tinted pink as I thought about my reckless decision just now.

You idiot, Kei.

I felt a little heartache for Hinata. It seemed that he had been going through so much recently. I hardly saw his smile anymore. And during trainings, I realised that his performance had been declining. The whole team was worried, but they didn't want to say anything in front of Hinata yet.

My eyes lingered on Hinata, then I turned and walked away.

(After school)

Third person's POV:

Hinata yawned and his head hit the table with a thunk. "Geez, Maths is so boring." he groaned. "Hey shrimpy." he heard a voice call out. "What?" he lazily asked, then jolted up when he realised who it was. He turned to look at the tall blonde, who was towering above him. "Uh, what's up?" he asked. Tsukishima smirked and flicked his forehead, causing him to cry out in pain as he quickly rubbed his forehead.

"Hey! What was that for?" Hinata whined. "No reason." Tsukishima said. Internally, Tsukishima was glad that Hinata was back to his usual self. Well, dumbasses like him would explode if they had to think about something for too long.

Tsukishima turned around. "Yamaguchi asked if you wanted to join him for lunch." Hinata jumped. "Really? Of course! Let's go!"

A few hours earlier...

Tsukishima's POV:

"Tsukki! What's wrong? You look troubled." Yams asked. I grunted and looked away. Why did he have to be so perceptive? "Nothing." I replied.

"Come on, tell me! I promise I won't tell anyone. Pretty please?" he tugged on my arm. "Urusai, Yamaguchi." "Gomen Tsukki. But please?"

And so he bugged me for the whole of class and during break.

"Fine! I'll tell you, okay?" I finally gave in. Gosh, anything to stop Yamaguchi from annoying me. "I just..." Damn, what was I supposed to tell him? That I had a stupid crush on Hinata? No way.

"Oo, I see. It's a crush! Tsukki, you've fallen in love, right? I know it! My sixth sense is always correct!" I flinched a little, but Yamaguchi still noticed it. "So, who's the lucky person? Do I know them? Are they cute? What are they like?" Great, I think I just dug my own grave.

"It's a boy. Nothing else." I said, my face already heating up. Yamaguchi stayed quiet, and I looked at him. Was he finally satisfied? He was deep in thought, then asked, "Is it... Hinata?"

My face burst into flames. How was he so spot-on? "I was right! Oh my gosh, am I going to be an uncle soon?" "SHUT UP!" I shouted, and I started releasing pheromones. Yamaguchi quickly shut his mouth, much to my relief.

"Sorry, but, you're gonna tell him, right?" Tell me again why I was friends with him? I sighed and replied, "I don't know. I'm new to this stuff."

Yamaguchi grinned widely and said, "It's fine! I've got your back!" I raised in eyebrow. What was that supposed to mean? The bell rang, signaling the end of break. I quickly got up, wanting to leave before he figured out anything embarrassing. But before I left, he called out, "Oh! Remember to invite Hinata for lunch later!"
