Flashback
"Shoyo!" I turned around. "Atsumu-san!" I grinned and waved back at him.
"So what's up? You said you had something to tell me?" Atsumu asked. "Yeah! I got a boyfriend!" I revealed excitedly.
Atsumu frowned, then his body tensed up. Not the reaction I was expecting. "What?" I asked, my smile fading. Atsumu shook his head. "Are you sure he's good? Who is he? Do I know him? I swear, if he hurts you, I'll -" I laughed. So that's what he was worried about.
Atsumu was like my big brother. We grew up together and went to the same school. And he also protected me from other Alphas.
"Don't worry, Atsumu-san. He's nice! You've met him before, haven't you? He's Aiko." Atsumu-san shrugged. "I dunno. Don't remember him." I smiled and punched him playfully. "Sure you do!"
That was just the start.
Over the next few months, as I got closer and closer to Aiko, I started hanging out less and less with Atsumu. He didn't like that.
"Shoyo. Can I talk to you?" he asked one day. "Sure!" I walked off with Atsumu. He looked very upset. "Atsumu-san, is there something -" He slammed his fist against the wall, cornering me. I jumped, my eyes widening.
"Atsumu-san, are you okay? Did something happen?" I asked worriedly. "Shoyo, I don't like that Aiko guy." he growled. "Why?" I asked. Was there some misunderstanding?
"Shoyo, he's taking you away from me. I don't like that." Atsumu said. My body was pressed against the wall. Atsumu hardly got angry, but when he did, he was really angry. "Atsumu-san, you know you're still my best friend, right? It's just that he's my boyfriend, so..." I trailed off.
"I've been enduring it for months, Shoyo. Months!" he slammed his fist against the wall again. I trembled. I didn't understand why he had to be so angry. "I'm sorry. I'll spend more time with you, okay?" I said, putting a hand on his arm.
Then his eyes suddenly widened and he stumbled back. "Shoyo, I'm sorry. I - I don't know what's happening to me." I just got all the more concerned. "Atsumu-san, it's fine. You don't have to be sorry." I quickly said. Atsumu turned away from me. "Atsumu...."
"Shoyo, you should go before I do something to you." I shook my head. "You won't hurt me, Atsumu-san. I know you won't." Atsumu looked up at me.
"You trust me, right?"
I nodded. "Then can you break up with Aiko?"
What?
"I feel like I'm going to go crazy whenever I see you with him." The blood drained from my face and I took a step backwards. "I get so so mad, I just want to... I want to kill him." Atsumu took a step forward. "A-atsumu-san, I don't think you're okay." I stammered.
Atsumu grabbed my wrist. I winced. "Shoyo, please. Break up with him. I think I - I love you." I gulped.
"Shoyo!" I turned to see Aiko calling out for me. Atsumu dropped my wrist. Aiko ran over, taking my hand. "Are you guys done talking? I wanted to show Shoyo something." Aiko asked.
Atsumu forced a smile and nodded. But when Aiko turned away, I saw his smile drop, his eyes turn cold. I shivered. I never knew Atsumu was capable of being so cold.
I let Aiko drag me away, turning to Atsumu. He just stood there, not moving. But I noticed his muscles tense up.
When we were out of earshot, I quickly grabbed Aiko's arm. "Aiko. I don't know what's happening. Atsumu-san, he told me to break up with you." I said hurriedly.
Aiko's smile fell. "Why?"
...
I quickly explained everything. "Aiko, I'm scared. I don't know what's happening to Atsumu-san. What if he actually tries to hurt you?"
Aiko grabbed my hand reassuringly. "It'll be fine, Shoyo. I'm here, aren't I?" I smiled weakly. That's right. Aiko was with me. Atsumu-san was just... just too angry. He wouldn't actually hurt him.
I couldn't be more wrong.
The next day, I got a call from Aiko's mother, saying that Aiko had been stabbed. I quickly rushed to get to the hospital, but when I stepped out of the door, I saw Atsumu-san.
"Atsumu-san! I'm sorry, I need to get to the -" "Shoyo. I killed him." Atsumu said. "W-what?"
"I killed him, Shoyo. It felt so good. Now I can have you. You're all mine." Atsumu said, stepping towards me. I stepped back. "Y-you're kidding , right?"
"I'm not. I told you, Shoyo. I told you to break up with him. If you did, I wouldn't have needed to do this. You made me become this monster, Shoyo."
I felt tears roll down my eyes. My best friend killed my boyfriend. Because he liked me.
Aiko was dead. And Atsumu killed him. I felt pheromones fill the air. "Atsumu-san! What are you doing?" I said as I felt a headache. "I'm sorry, Shoyo. I have to do this." The pheromones got thicker and the headache got worse. I clutched onto my head, leaning on the wall for support. "Atsumu-san, don't do this. Please." I pleaded, gasping for air. Atsumu picked me up as I writhed in pain.
"I'm sorry."
