Emma's POV:

We were sent back home after the competition was over and the best party that Dad has ever thrown took place in our living room. Of courses it wasn't the most fun party, because of how professional I had to pretend to be, but it was still much more funner than the last one Dad had thrown at Alan's graduation. Zoe and Trixy couldn't come, because of work, and all Dad told them was that he was proud of them for prioritising their work. I really wanted them to come, they were rarely home even when I was away for The X Factor. They're never home. Like Dad.

Right now, I was sitting in my room, my journal opened to the page I had half my song written on. I sat on my bed with the journal in front of me and my black guitar sitting on my lap. My phone lay beside the journal and it played the melody I had recorded for this song's verse. I played the melody on my guitar and muttered gibberish until it started forming in words automatically. I wrote the words that made sense to me as I recalled the conversation with Mike that day. The conversation replayed in my head as I wrote it down on a rough page. I looked at the words and thought of sentences to rhyme. I ended up with another two verses and wrote them down right below the ones I had written on the day Harry and Caroline went on their first date.

[Verse 2]
You're messing with my head
'Cuz that's what you do the best
Saying there's nothing you won't do
To get me to say yes
You're impossible to resist
But I wouldn't bet your heart on it
It's like I'm finally awake
And you're just a beautiful mistake

{Chorus}

[Bridge]
Thank you for showing me
Who you are underneath
No, thank you, I don't need
Another heartless misery
You think I'm doing this to make you jealous
And I know that you hate to hear this
But this is not about you anymore.

{Chorus}

"Emms! Come down quick! There's a - there's a call for you!" Alex, my little brother called. I groaned. I had just layed down after an hour of cleaning my room when he yelled at me to come down. Ugh, so annoying. Alex has always been like this, a pain in the butt. But I still love him to bits though.

Nonetheless, I hopped out of my bed and raced down the stairs. Alex handed me the home phone and I asked "who is it?" to him in a whisper. He said nothing and handed me the phone.

"Hello?" I asked, voice filled with uncertainty.

"Emma?" Simon's voice answered. I froze. I don't know who I was expecting it to be, but it definitely wasn't Simon.

"Yeah, it's me." I told him, waiting impatiently for what he had to say next.

"Yeah, great, so what I wanted to ask you is, what do you think about joining my record deal, Syco Records?" He asked and a huge grin formed on my face, "I've already contacted the other five boys and they agreed. So is it a deal? If not, One Direction will have to go on without you." He continued. My smile instantly dropped. If I joined right now, my college and my career will have to go. I won't be able to study psychology or take forward Dad's textile company. But at the same time, if I joined right now, I'd be with my boys and my career would be my dream - singing and making music. Psychology and business had always been second and third on my list of careers. I had always wanted music to be my main thing.

"Oh my gosh, this is like a huge thing... Do you mind if I contact my parents first and ask them about this?" I asked. I needed time to think about it and also ask for permission from my mum because I'm still technically a minor.
