Emma's POV:
We were finally done with choosing our songs and decided to go have lunch. We headed downstairs on the ground floor and met Aiden. It was awkward with him and the boys, but Aiden and I surprisingly hit it off. By the time we reached the cafeteria, the tension in the air around us was so thick, Aiden had to awkwardly say bye to us before finding himself his own table, leaving me with my boys again.
"See? He went to get his own table, he doesn't like you that much..." Harry said as he looked over at Aiden behind the table.
"Correction, he doesn't like you all very much. You guys just made it so awkward for him, he had to leave." I said, sticking my tongue out at Harry as he quickly shut his eyes. Too late. He already saw it.
"So you're taking his side?" Louis asked as if he felt betrayed.
"I thought we were friends, Cookie..." Niall frowned as he played along with Louis, being dramatic. I rolled my eyes.
"We are friends, dumbo. And I'm not taking any sides, I'm just saying." I shrugged. I went in to order my grilled sandwiches with extra cheese on the counter, leaving the boys to talk among themselves for a while. I figured they would like some guys time since I was the only girl and I felt like I annoyed them a bit.
"Hi!" A familiar voice startled me so much, I let out a scream and almost dropped my sandwich on the floor. My little scream had gained us a lot of attention, but most of the people turned back to their meals when they didn't see any drama forming up. My boys were the only ones still looking, especially Louis.
"Hey, Katie!" I said, but with lesser enthusiasm than her's. Both of us caught up on the things we missed and she told me about how she found out she liked a guy who lived two blocks away from her neighbourhood. My smile dropped when I heard her say that, what would I tell Louis? I saw him looking at us earlier when I had shouted and now he's obviously gonna ask what we talked about and if it was about him or her love life. He's going to get so sad...
"What happened? Are you alright?" She asked when she noticed I had become visibly upset. I nodded and tried to cover up the fact that I was currently in a dilemma about whether to tell Louis what she told me or not.
"No, you're not. Tell me, I might be able to help? And even if I won't be able to, you will have less burden of the sorrow on you. I'm not forcing you or anything, I just want to help you." She said, placing a hand on my shoulder as we turned around from the counter to go to our table. I sighed.
"It's - it's fine, I totally get why you want me to tell you, but I think I'll tell you later? I mean, like -"
"Yeah, no problem, let's go eat for now, yeah?" She smiled and her hand moved from my right shoulder and it travelled behind my back to sit on my other shoulder. We made our way to the table I was previously sitting on and Louis' eyes sparkled when he saw Katie with me. I tried to hint it to him by giving him a look, but that was not one of his concerns right now. He was just excited to see Katie. I silently ate my sandwich as the conversation about "is hotdog a sandwich" and "is cereal soup" went on.
"Hey Emma, you wanna maybe go to the mall today, if you're free?" A voice startled me. I turned around and smiled at Aiden.
"Actually, I'll pass. Kinda have to practice for the next performance, and also, hopefully for the finals." I said as I smiled apologetically.
"Oh, okay... Sorry to bother you." He awlwardly said, kind of saddened as he walked back to his table where he sat with other solo boys. They all looked kinda sad too, maybe they had persuaded him to go and ask me out. He was obviously trying to get back together, but I knew better. I wasn't going to fall for his tricks again, even though I said I would be friends with him.
