I wake up to a ear peircing howl. I jump to my paws, instantly alert. I look around the full apprentice den and see that the others are doing the same.
"It's White'paw!" fallenpaw, one of panda'heart's apprentices, yells.
Oh no! Billypaw shoves her way through the cats to get to White'paw. Her eyes widen as she sees the white and ginger she-cat's side chached in blood. A nasty thorn had pierced her side. A gasp escapes billy'paw.
"give her room!" Billypaw meows as she nudges some of the cats away.
The wound looked pretty bad, she needed to get her friend to the medicine cat's den. Billypaw nosed white'paw up and towards the apprentices den entrance. White'paw's pained yowl had woken up most of the camp, and there were cats in the clearing looking around confused.
"come on, to the medicine den." Bllypaw mewed.
She could feel the sticky warmth of blood on her nose. She hoped that white'paw wasn't bleeding out too much. The ginger and white apprentice was breathing heavily.
"Just a little farther." Billypaw mewed in encouragement.
The den entrance was coming up.
" There, the medicine den,"
Billypaw nudged her inside. The medicine cat's den was dimly lit in the crisp moonlight. What if Sunflower didn't have any herbs?
"she's hurt!" billypaw mewed to the cat inside. she looked around.
The medicine cat, Sunflower, shifted her yellow eyes that matched her yellow fur, towards us. She was sorting some herbs in the back of the den.
"I'll attend to her, thank you for alerting me." She said calmly.
"You know, you could of helped her on your own if you were my apprentice," Sunflower meowed, "it would be easier with your impairment."
Billypaw bristled her fur. Once she checked that her hurt friend was okay, she left. As soon as she padded out, she was barraded with questions. Rustpaw nosed his way in between billypaw and everyone else, acting like he was an expert on the subject.
"It must have been sabotage," Billypaw caught him saying.
"What?" she asked, extremely confused, "Why would it be that? someone just was careless and didn't sort through the moss well enough."
Fallenpaw echoed my confusion and disbelief, but the other apprentices had already caught on to rustpaw's "theory".
She could smell the fear and panic on the younger apprentices as they began to spin their own theories. White'paw is going to be okay. She caught her self thinking. She had known white'paw for a while now, and she didn't want to lose another friend. The camp was mostly silent now, most of the cats had gone back to sleep, or listening to rustpaw's theory. She rolled her eyes. She needed something to do, to keep her mind off of things. Billypaw spotted her brother next to fallenpaw about to enter the apprentices den.
"Hey!" Billypaw called out to them, "bugpaw, fallenpaw, want to do an early border patrol now that we're up?"
the two exchanged glances, then padded up to billypaw.
