"Hands up," Bad snarled, stepping forward. He locked eyes with Dream, who looked away with scarlet cheeks and moved even further behind Will. This was not how he wanted this night to go. Wilbur put his hands above his head, glancing down at Dream. Dream did nothing, standing still as a statue behind Will.

"Okay, now walk over to us, Dream. Slowly."

Dream shook his head, shooting a fearful glance at Wilbur who nodded encouragingly. It probably didn't help the kidnapping accusations, but Dream couldn't help himself. If they were caught now, the plan would truly go to shit. He was going to need all the support he could get.

"You're safe now," Sapnap said, stepping up and holding his hands out for everyone to lower their guns. "Dream, look at me. The guns are down. You're safe, you're being rescued." His eyes were still burning with accusations and questions, making Dream quiver slightly. The fear of being caught, of Wilbur being caught, was paralyzing him.

"Rescued," Wilbur asked, incredulous. "Rescued? Did you not see what you just interrupted?"

"Yeah, I saw him getting slammed into a wall," Bad said. Wilbur and Skeppy both snickered.

"Wow, great deduction skills there Badboyhalo, good job. Would you like a golden star?"

"Regardless," Sapnap interrupted, "this is over. Come on Dream, you don't have to stay with him anymore. And you can get out of that gods awful dress."

"I-," Dream muttered, trying to figure out how to explain the situation without blowing his cover. He was banking on the kidnapping lie he had created. But lies crumbled under scrutiny, and Dream could feel the walls of deception and fabrication crumbling.

"He doesn't want to go," Wilbur cut in, eyes smoldering dangerously. "Trust me."

"Ahh yes, let's trust the criminal arsonist."

"You say that like it's a bad thing."

"Stop," Dream snapped, stepping up beside Will and trying to shake the haze of fear and panic from his brain. "This is over. I'm not going with you, I'm perfectly happy where I am."

"You were kidnapped," Bad snarled. "What are you talking about? We're here to save you, not hurt you. Don't you want to get away?"

"No. This is where I belong, not pretending to protect a corrupt city. I found a family and a boyfriend, and I'm going to stay with them."

"You're being manipulated, Dream," a voice from somewhere in the back called out. It sounded like Punz. "It's a miracle that you haven't died yet."

"Please come home Dream," Sapnap said, taking another few steps forward. Wilbur and Dream both backed away, nearly stumbling over a manhole. "We've missed you."

"Who's we, you and George," Dream snapped icily. "Last I checked, you don't sleep with your coworker's boyfriend because you miss him."

The cops near Sapnap eyed him warily, one even taking a step back. Sap visibly flinched.

"Oh, he didn't bring that up," Dream snapped, glaring at the squadron. "Not surprising. He's just as bad as Schlatt or Quackity or Fundy. They leave out very important aspects of their life, and it's their downfall in the long run. This city is built on lies and false promises!

"I mean, just look at the people you work with! Antfrost killed a man over a lost poker game! Skeppy funded an illegal gambling ring for Quackity and has been embezzling funds for months! Bad is the graffiti artist you've been trying to catch for over a year, and he's been helping Skeppy so they can run away together! Sapnap got my ex to cheat on me! The people you think you work with or for are not who you think they are. And the leaders are no better!"
