Falling off the side of a cliff was definitely not on Nightmare's to-do list. However, he brushed death multiple times over the past many minutes, and he was starting to understand Phil's line about becoming acquaintances with her. The sea spray made the limestone difficult to hold on to, even with gloves and special shoes designed for climbing. Add that to working by only moonlight and having to stop and listen for guards while hanging precariously off the cliff face every few minutes, and Nightmare's task was feeling more and more impossible.

"Why couldn't Phil do this," he growled to himself, feeling his fingers start to slip again. He scrambled for a new handhold, hissing in pain as the loose stones dug into his gloved fingers. Waves smashed against the cliff, spraying his back and hair with mist.

He knew the answer to this question though. Phil was busy planting bombs on the nearby road, claiming that flying was too risky. With the sea spray and the possibly alerted guards, it would be too easy for things to do wrong.

"Are you complaining again," Tommy said in his ear, cutting into the sounds of the ocean and rocks cracking against one another. The earpieces were back, and so were the nagging family members. "Good gods, I shouldn't have traded with Techno."

"After nearly botching Tubbo's break on Wednesday? You're grounded for the rest of your life, probably."

"I shot one wrong person. One! I'm sorry that they were fucking twins!"

"Tommy, we told you to shoot a running guard, not a hostage" Nightmare puffed out, pulling himself over a lip and tumbling into a crevice filled with dormant bombs. A sigh rose from his lips and he laid there for a moment, catching his breath. As soon as he was functioning again, he started arming them. Watching them glow a soft pink and fill the tiny cave with deadly light made his heart leap in anticipation. One bomb whined and Nightmare swore loudly, switching it off and throwing it into the ocean to be safe.

"I was following the picture's instructions," Tommy whined. "You guys weren't specific enough."

"Will you two shut it," Ranboo hissed, joining in. Everyone was on the same channel now so that the person in the control room, Tommy, didn't have to waste time switching back and forth. "I'm pretty sure every guard around me can hear your bickering."

"Well turn down the volume dickhead."

Nightmare finished arming the weapons and started carefully arranging them around the walls of the cave.

"I can't."

He stuck a bunch to the ceiling, piled them in corners, and was very careful not to touch the parts that glowed. According to Wilbur, that would be very painful and almost surely result in his demise.

"Children, play nice," Philza cut in, sounding amused. "Bombs are planted and armed on the road and Techno took control of solitary. It's down to you Dr- Nightmare."

"Destabilizing bombs are armed, I'm about to start climbing again," he responded, setting up the fuse and attaching the spool to his belt. His muscles groaned as he positioned himself at the mouth of the cave. "You ready, Will?"

"Don't worry about me, I've been ready for hours," Wilbur cut in.

Nightmare huffed some sort of noise that was supposed to come out annoyed but just sounded exhausted. He had been climbing, off and on, for at least twenty minutes. It didn't sound like a lot of time, but you go try climbing a rock wall for more than ten minutes and see how rubbery your arms and legs get. Or what about the cramps in various parts of your body.
