scars - Peter and Tim

Tim's POV:
I'm sat in the pub on my own. Since me and Sally divorced and she loved to Liverpool I have been miserable. I feel into a world of depression and even started to self harm. Of course no one knows. They just wouldn't understand. I am brought out of my thoughts by a voice. It's Peter. My best mate.

"You alright mate?" He asks sitting down next me to. He orders him self a pint before turning back to me.

"Yeah yeah. You?" I ask.

"Yeah. You doing anything today?" He asks taking a sip of his drink.

"No not really. Why?" I ask.

"Just wondering." He says shaking his head slightly.

Peter then looks down and a look of shock comes on to his face. I'm confused at first until I see what he is looking at. My sleeve to my jacket must have slid up because now some of my cuts are showing.

"What's that?" Peter says as he goes to grab my arm.

"Uh nothing. I just need some fresh air." I say as I get up and go to the garden part of the pub. My hands are shaking and I feel dizzy.

"Mate. I'm not angry at you." I hear from behind me. I turn around quickly.

"Well good because I've done nothing wrong." I say starting to scratch my wrist out of anxiousness.

"Don't do that." Peter says quickly as he reaches forward and grabs my wrist. Separating them from each other. I wince from the pressure on my wrists.

"Can I?" Peter asks going to lift my sleeves. I nod hesitantly.

When he lifts my sleeves old and new cuts show. Peter sighs sadly and let's go of my wrists. I immediately pull my sleeves down.

"Why didn't you tell me Tim. Or atleast tell someone." He asks.

"I couldn't. I was ashamed. I still am." I say sadly.

"There's nothing to be ashamed of. I'm gonna help you. We will get through this." Peter says bringing me into a hug. I usually don't like them but I don't mind this time.

"Thanks mate just don't tell anyone eh. Well, you can tell Carla if you want but no one else." I say quietly.

"Course mate."
