Auld Lang Syne Part II

Anthony Bridgerton was furious to say the least. With a fury he hadn't had in some time the door slammed behind him.

That infuriating woman!

Ester Sloehigh-Bridgerton was by far the only woman who could make him want to drown himself in the lake downtown.

The audacity!

Anthony mumbled profanities that would embarrass his mother under his breath as he made his way to his room.

Of all the women!

Even Daphne did not make him as mad as Ester. The name just made him want to curl his toes further into his shoes. The memory replaying throughout his head is still fresh......

~Twenty Minutes Prior~

"I've been keeping a rather large secret from you and I think it's time you knew the truth." Anthony thought of at least seventy million different things that she could want to tell him, all ranging from "she broke her ankle" or "I've fallen in love with someone else."

He waited a few minutes waiting for her to say something, anything to quench the silence that surrounded them. When Ester raised his eyebrows and said..

"I've been thinking about our marriage....our situation and I believe it's time we filed for a divorce. Neither of us are happy and I believe it would make everyone happier if we separated."

Blink.

Blink.

Anthony had not expected this. He honestly had no idea what to say because the idea was still rotating throughout his mind.

"What." That was all he managed to say. All he could muster to say that wouldn't ruin his reputation. Whatever was left of it.

"I believe a divorce is necessary for us. There is no one else, of course, who would be interested in a seven month pregnant Viscountess with twins in her womb? I just think that with your past infidelities and the matter of how I no longer have...feelings...for you that go beyond what they were as children, a divorce is in order."

Ester had paused but when she noticed Anthony would not say anything more than what. She continued on.

"I've already procured the right documents, as courtesy of Henry. I wouldn't ask for much just a house and nourishment for myself and our children as I cannot work." Finally, Anthony stood up.

"Absolutely not!" Ester raised her eyebrows once more, setting the papers on the bed space between herself and the Viscount.

"What do you mean 'absolutely not!'?" Anthony began to pace the room, with his hands raised above his head.

"That is preposterous! Divorce is a scandal for one! Scandal I've been trying to avoid for my family since my father died! I will not lead this family into a disgrace of this magnitud-"
