Elizabeth's first sensation upon waking up was pure, and total, agony. The painful sensation spread throughout her whole body as it originated from her back. Feeling alarmed, dazed, and like she could barely breath from the pain, the girl tentively looking behind her to try to see the cause. Her mind was hazy about what had happened to land her in this odd and dark place until two broken wings came into sight.

That's.. That's right. Meliodas... betrayed us. H-He took the scroll. I...I trusted him and doomed the realms to complete and total darkness. Elaine, Ban, Escanor... all of their sacrifices will be for nothing! Even Meliodas's himself.... He will undo everything he fought for previously, hope, light... me...

That last one hurt more then her wings laying uselessly on the hard stone floor. He had been right, no matter how cold and cruel his words were..

Funny.. coming from the girl who killed hope...

They echoed on repeat in her mind while her tears falling and splattering on the cold floor only added to the horrible anthem of anguish.

Drip

Don't worry Ellie...

Drop

I need you...

Drip

to trust me..

Oh but she did... that was the problem.. always so trusting and niave.. She had trusted him, and now everyone was going to die because of it..

Drop.

Everything will be okay...

Drip

Oh but it won't be and it wasn't. They were going to be sealed away... countless people had died... All because Elizabeth had let her feelings get in the way...

Drop

You always made dealing with this war so much easier. I'm happy you're okay.

Drip

Have hope.

Drop

But what was left to hope for?
He had died for her that day... had given up everything for her. All for her safety even as it was threatened by the same boy now. Oh if only it had been her instead. If she had been turned Meliodas could still be the bright boy she loved, and the one everyone needed. After all.... everyone needed hope more then they needed her... and he would make a great king for the kingdom. She should've been the one to go..

Elizabeth felt helpless, useless, alone, worthless, and worst of all...

Complete, and total despair was consuming her... and she didn't have any hope left to fight it.

The tears flowing freely, and no fight left in her... she stayed there on the floor of what she recognized as a cell as the waves of agony slowly turned to numbness and apathy. After all.. the goddess was to die soon. She should at least come to terms with her fate before it comes for her.

Speaking of which..

Looking up from her spot on the floor as she heard the sounds of locks clicking and metal creaking, the goddesses eyes widened at seeing an old friend who had been lost years ago.

"B-Ban.."

"Heya Princess. Horrible seeing ya again."

Meliodas felt every part of himself ache as the last person's hope started to run dry. He should have been happy, his mission was done, and this new development was upping his power immensely. However.. all he felt was a hollow numbness inside as he sat down on his bed with emotions no one could begin to understand consuming him.

It's... better this way. It's NECESSARY this way. Don't be weak. Don't give in. You've already made your choice so stick with it and stop moping around.

He forced those words to ease some of his grief as he stood up, straightened up, and prepared to go train.

After all... she'd be sealed away even if I didn't make this choice. This is for the best... for everyone involved.

Elizabeth's heart hurt at hearing Ban say that. He had been like a big brother to her and although she knew he had been turned, initially seeing him again made her forget as relief at getting a reunion filled her.

"You.. hate seeing me again?"

Her once numb feeling turned back to sadness as this was the cherry on top to add to her misery. He must be here to kill her... or to take her to where she'll be sealed. Both thoughts making her lip quiver as tears filled her eyes.

Watching as he blinked in suprise before his signature laugh- that squeezed her heart painfully at hearing again- rang out. Her confused expression making the man activate his darkness and point to his mark on his waist that was bare as the demon only wore pants.

Lies was written there instead of the previous truth he represented. Gasping as realization hit her, she looked in the crimson eyes staring back at her with an amused look.

As a goddess (or specifically chosen human in Ban's case) going against the center given to them at a certain age (or due to a heroic act) physically hurts the goddess/human due to them doing the opposite of what they represent. So if the same applies to demons and he represents lies...

"Ban... did you mean... It's good to see me?"

He shook his head, the same playful look in his eyes.

"Nope. Not at all."

So it really does apply to demons as well! Does that also mean... just as goddesses take on and feel all of what they protect in the world. Joy, love, laughter, and so on... demons feel all of the pain or sins they put in the world? Does that mean.... Meliodas feels all of the despair in the world?

That thought was nearly enough to bring the tears back to her eyes, however right now she needed to focus on why her friend was here and what she needed to brace herself for. After all, she wouldn't make the mistake of trusting a demon twice. Even someone like him.

"Ban.. wh-what are you here for?"

His signature cheshire grin was on his face and made her at ease and slightly weary all at the same time.

"I'm totally not breaking you out of prison!"

Blinking as it took a moment to decipher the words, her eyes widened as her heart sped up slightly.

"Does that mean.. you are breaking me out of prison?"

His smile grew.

"Nope!"
