Mini memories played yet again, although faster than the last few times, likely due to more years passing than before.

Important milestones were hit like Ban hearing the news of his new life. While other things like Ban and Meliodas goofing off as their friendship began also were included. Although at the end of each, was Meliodas going home every night to his two little brothers he took care of.

It wasn't biological, they all knew that since his parents weren't around at a young age and both boys were MUCH younger than him, but he still loved them so much and took such good care of them, it never really mattered. To him, or to anyone else.
That's why it made their hearts all ache so much at seeing them again... because of what happened.

"Mewiiii! You just went to see Ewwie! Don't goooooo...."

Little Zeldris- the youngest- whined and pouted as he held tightly onto Meliodas's leg while the blond dragged the little four year old along.

"It's my job little Zel! I have to see her again. Besides, she's my friend too and I know she's stressed lately, so I want to go say hi. I promise I'll be back later though, I'll bring some snacks too!"

"You always leave..."

Estarossa joined in the pouting as his longer silver hair got in his face while doing so.

"I know, I know. But Ban's gonna come over here to look after you two, okay? You guys love Ban!"

Giving the pouting boys both a kiss on the forehead, he smiled before heading out the door with Ban arriving not too far after.

"Wait... what day is this set in?"

Elaine asked with a hushed voice, causing all of them to feel their faces pale at thinking of the answer.

"Oh no..."

Sure enough, as Meliodas went to work, helped some of the citizens where he was stationed, and goofed with Elizabeth by his side, at home something was happening.

A historic event that really changed everything for the group.

"What!? I can't believe you think pie is better than cake Ellie! Cake is so good and sweet!"

"Yes but pie is too! And it's not as messy."

"Hmm, I guess I see your point, but I'll take chocolate over fruity every day of the week."

"I suppose that's fair, although I think the best solution to this is a mixture. Chocolate and fruit is the best."

"Okay, you got me there. I love some apples and chocolate."

"Strawberries for me."

"Ah, a classic."

Meliodas has a bright but soft smile on his face as the two continued their debate and a playful twinkle in his eyes to match it.

However as the day passed the air grew colder, and Elizabeth started shivering as their little place on a hill didn't add much heat.

"You cold? Here, come sit closer to me, it'll help keep you warm."

He scooted her slightly before wrapping his big fluffy wings tightly around her, causing her tremors to stop after a moment.

"Better?"

She nodded, her eyes closed as she started to drift off with his warmth soothing her.

The moment seemed perfect, but all watching knew it wasn't. Because they knew what came next as three soldiers wearing bright armor came up with panic in their eyes.
