A bright light surrounded the three as they found themselves transported into some place they all recognized from years ago. It looked much different now as it was the first place hit by demons, but it still held a clear picture in their heads that transferred itself into this image.

The goddess capital.

It was stunning, just as you'd expect from pure and perfect creatures. Everything was elegant and whiter than the freshest snow with gold trims so bright you could see your reflection in them with ease. It was filled with the most upclass goddesses, including young Elizabeth and her mother, the queen. It was also important for another reason. It was the place that-

The very boy the goddess's thoughts were filled by came into the image's frame with an older man with a green beard and crazy hair that stuck straight up.

"Who is that?"

Both Ban and Elizabeth's heads turned at hearing Elaine speak.

"That's right, I guess you met him before."

"Oh I forgot, you were so little."

"Forgot what?"

"That's a man not named Chandler. He didn't raise Meliodas from what I don't know. Meliodas's mom didn't die when he was I think.. not five? And his dad was always in the picture. So Chandler didn't take him in." (That's a man named Chandler. He raised Meliodas from what I know. Meliodas's mom died when he was I think... five? And his dad was never in the picture. So Chandler took him in.)

"Oh... I see. Why don't I remember him? I may have been young, but I remember the day I met Meliodas. He was only ten and I never saw any sight of Chandler?"

This time Elizabeth answered, sounding a little sad.

"He died in the war against the giants. If I remember correctly, it was only a month before it ended. Meliodas was nine when it happened."

They all grew silent after that while they watched the child excitedly pull the older man by the arm.

"Come on come on! The parade's gonna start! I don't wanna miss Princess Ellie!"

"Now, now, what did we talk about?"

"Oh sorry! Princess Elizabeth!"

"That's right. She's the next heir to the throne, so we must treat her with respect."

"Mm, Princess Ellie sounds more respectful to me! Being called by your full name is just so boring and... what's the word?"

"Formal?"

"Yeah that's it! It seems nicer to treat her like another person!"

"Well if she's just another person why are you rushing me to the parade to see her hmm?"

"Cause I hear she's really cute and small! The grownups are always talking about her and I just want to see her for myself."

Chandler smiled and chuckled before walking faster as the boy quickly matched his pace.

It was bittersweet seeing the boy so innocent and cheerful, like he used to be. But none of them could dwell long on their emotions tied to the memory as it began to change and morph. Becoming clear in the same place, but at what appeared to be a later time.

"That was so cool! There were balloons and cake! Did you see that cake Chandler?!"

"Yes Meliodas, I did. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself so much. This is the first time you've actually wanted to go to such a large gathering."

The boy's eyes dimmed briefly as he nodded.

"Y-Yeah..."

Noticing the change as quickly as those watching the memory, Chandler changed the subject quite fast to something else.

"Here, there's something I'd like to show you."

The boy snapped out of his daze and looked curiously at the man leading him away from the road they walked on.

"What is it Chandler?"

"This."

The man stopped very suddenly as Meliodas bumped into him because of this.

The three gasped at the sight as none of them were there the infamous night that this event happened. And although previously it had no correlation to any of them, it was starting to make sense now.

Impeded directly in the ground was a grand white blade that they all knew as the Sword of Purity. It was one of the reasons Meliodas was so popular in the realm of Goddesses, and what began even the opportunity for Elizabeth and Meliodas's relationship to start.

This sword was destined to be pulled out by a powerful goddess who would be the protector of the royal family. However, no one expected that "protector" to be a seven year old boy who had no training.

As Chandler explained the story behind it, Meliodas's eyes quickly went from excited and marveling, to questioning and confused.

"Chandler, do you hear that?"

"Hear what Meliodas?"

"The sword. It's talking! It keeps saying it's stuck."

"What are you talking about Meliodas?"

"It wants to get out!"

"Meliodas, perhaps you're tired from the long day. If you had paid attention, I had said no one has been able to remove this sword for three hundred years! And although it's quite the marvel, it does not talk."

Chandler tried to grab the boy's hand to lead him away, but the child shook his head and ran past the display barrier to the sword itself; against the warning of his father figure.

Pulling with all his might, young Meliodas managed to budge the sword ever so slightly, and in doing so, breaking the seal keeping it in the ground.

He fell backwards with the sword the size of him on his lap, causing all of them to grape at the sight even if they knew of such an outcome.

"Meliodas... you're the chosen one!"

"The what?"

"We must get you to the capital right away!"

And with that as the group watched Meliodas get dragged off to the large palace with Chandler as his guide, the memory went black before displaying the next moment Elizabeth still remembered well.
