A few days had passed since the incident, my dad filled people in, except I feel like he was overreacting.
He told everyone how I 'oh so bravely' got the wolfs attention, made them chase me, then managed to stay alive and escape.
But in reality, after I saw them, I had a feeling I wasn't in any REAL danger.
Besides, not like I saved everyone.
It was like everyone was already dead when I got there.
I was too slow.
Maybe if I would have stayed I could have helped more, but I didn't, because I let my feelings get the best of me.
Everyone would come in my room and congratulate me, some people I didn't even recognized, my mom fretted over me, Lexi came over a lot causing Bernie to follow.
Bernie had recently moved out, he was already moving his stuff out the day I barged in.
Now I know I was really alone, something was telling me I couldn't afford being with the shewolf who I know knew as my mate.
I would have to find a way to move on, even though my heart begged me to go back and look for her again, and inhale more of the scent I was able to snatch from our small amount of contact.
I heard my door open and I groaned, people kept asking questions, and I just wanted to be left by myself.
Healing bruises covered my body, so I've just been inside the whole time, I glanced up to see Charles, followed by David, Lexi, and Bernie.
I huffed as I watched them approach, Charles finally spoke, "You should start moving around again, so your muscles don't get too stiff." I narrowed my eyes.
David cleared his throat, "We just mean, we'd like to have you out there if something were to happen again." I scowled in response.
"All I did was run away, maybe everyone should have thought about that instead of sitting there letting themselves be killed off like trapped rabbits." I snorted and turned to the other side.
The room grew silent, I heard deep growl come from Charles throat, I froze, I knew Charles could easily fold me like an omelette if he wanted.
This time it was Lexi who spoke, "Come on Ryan! They meant it as a compliment, they just want you to be well." I turned back around to face her.
For some reason, I didn't feel jealous of her and Bernie for the same reason anymore.
Now I was more jealous of them being able to be together with everyone being happy with it.
I couldn't do that.
I sighed, "It was just pure luck, I didn't do anything special, they'll still come back, and they'll do it again." I replied, though I hope now that they knew I was here, they'd go away.
But something told me that wasn't the case.
"Will you at least join training today?" Lexi asked, Bernie stared at me, "I'm sure he won't say no." he said calmly, I rolled my eyes and Charles turned around "You will join training today." he said walking out of the room.
I felt angry, I was already in a bad mood, Daniel smiled, "Get up, get dressed." he said walking out of the room, "See you there!" Lexi said following Bernie out the room who left a few seconds prior.
I sat watching training, watching two wolves fight each other until one came out victorious.
I was usually good at this type of training, I sighed 'when can I go home?'
I frowned as my name was called, I dragged myself towards the center, I looked at my opponent.
A guy named Alex, we went to the same highschool, but I never really talked to him.
He pushed back his dyed red hair and gave me a cocky grin, I frowned, I watched Bernie lean in towards his ear and whisper something.
'When the hell did they get so close?' I snorted and shifted with Alex, I heard the bell ring, telling us the fight has begun.
I knew this was a fight, obviously, but I didn't expect to be slammed onto the ground so quickly.
Usually fights started with one inspecting the other.
I grunted as I hit the ground, the bell rung once more, confirming the fight has ended.
We shifted back and got changed, I huffed, "What the hell?" Alex snickered, "Well, we aren't always gonna have time to check out our opponents weaknesses in battle, I guess I just decided to fight realistically."
I opened my mouth to say something, not that I was really bothered, but I heard someone snicker.
Then someone laughed.
Suddenly the whole clearing was laughing, and that's when I felt embarrassed.
I awkwardly rubbed the back of my neck, "I guess that makes sense.. " I muttered, but people continued laughing.
I was never one to be taken down so easily, so the fact that I was was embarrassing.
"So much for being a great hero." Alex grinned and the laughing got louder, I heard Bernie snort.
Suddenly I felt like someone was watching me, I looked around, but nobody was there.
Alex was suddenly at my side, "What? Making sure nobody saw you fail?" I snickered, I pushed him back and walked away.
"I'll join training tomorrow, let's have a rematch."
