"You did what..?" I asked, my throat started to feel dry, "W-why'd you do that?"
Mia awkwardly avoided her gaze, "I just... Didn't want you to get in trouble, I didn't know what else to do, I'm sorry..."
I didn't reply for a few seconds, what was Mia doing all the way over here anyway? Wouldn't she have gone back home? Where was she from? Could I even trust her?
I slowly stalked back towards my house, "But, now what if I have to keep this up? Of what if I have to confess and they call me a liar?!" I swallowed the lump that gathered in my throat, Mia followed after me.
"I'm sure it's not that bad! Really!" She replied, "Plus it's not really like you could, er- introduce someone else to them.."
My eyes slowly moved over to glare at her, "Thanks for the reminder..." I grumbled, my eyes slinking back down to the ground, it's not as if I could have everyone accept Reed with open arms, so there wasn't any point in wishful thinking.
I stopped in front of my door, Mia awkwardly shifted from one foot to the other, "Y'know, I really do want us to be friends, I don't want us to constantly be on such thin ice."
I gave a nod, "Sorry..." I muttered, "I didn't mean to make you feel like you couldn't talk to me," though my words were barely audible, I reached down to grab the spare key inside the dirt of a potted plant.
Before I could turn the key, my attention was turned to noises that came from inside, my eyebrows furred, finally, I turned the key and the door opened.
My eyes landed on my parents, Alpha Charles, Beta David, and finally Lexi, I fought to keep my face from turning into a scowl, nobody moved for what seemed like an eternity.
"How'd you get in...?" I mumbled, trying to walk around them, my mother grabbed my arm before I could walk past her,
"What has been going on with you, Ryan? I've barely seen you at all and you're already causing so much trouble," her face softened a bit, so I turned my head away without answering.
"So," Charles spoke up, inviting himself into the conversation, "This is your mate, yes?" He asked, his eyes moved over me and landed on Mia, who stared back at him.
"Y-yes..." I sputtered, "Why are you here again..?" I flinched as Mia suddenly wrapped herself around my arm, her face wore a more cold expression than I've seen previously.
This time David moved closer to me, I leaned back a bit, "You're quite the topic recently Ryan," David ignored my question once more, my eyebrows furred.
"Yeah, between you guys, maybe," I grumbled, heading for the stairs once more, I flinched as another hand roughly grabbed my shoulder, I glanced up to see my father staring at me.
"You don't leave in the middle of a conversation." His voice was so monotone it was almost hard to believe it was the same man who had raised me.
"Well, you don't really show up at peoples houses unannounced either.." I snapped back, this time my father got in my face, only to be moved back by my mother, who shot me a glare.
"Let's not get off topic." Charles cut in once more, "Where have you been recently?"
"Um...here? What do you mean?" I asked, my teeth sunk into the inside of my cheek, "Why am I the only one who needs to be watched all the time?"
"Most people don't leave the territory," David said, sitting down on the couch, I held in a scoff.
"I just left.... To see Mia...." I hissed through clenched teeth, Lexi, who I almost forgot was here, moved closer.
"Are you guys really mates? I don't recall her saying anything like that last time," she asked,
Mia stepped forward, cutting off Lexi from getting to me, "Why would I tell you anything? I don't know you." Mia's soft blue eyes darkened.
"Still, it's weird, no?" Lexi asked, with a few moments of silence, Lexi moved back, "It's... Just not what I heard is all," a fake smile flashed across her face, "I'm just worried about you is all, I forgive you for what happened."
My teeth clenched, "You forgive...me..?" I asked, Lexi nodded,
"Yes, exactly," her eyes flashed a fake concerned, "That's why I asked Bernie to give me his set of keys, I just wanted to talk things out with you."
Before I could say anything, my mom spoke again, "Ryan, why are you being difficult?" She asked, her face genuinely looked worried, but I was more upset she couldn't seem to take in my side, "Just tell us what's going on with you, Rye"
"There's nothing going on," I muttered, "I just wanted to be left alone, but you all treat me this way.." I grumbled.
"Nobody said youre in trouble." David replied, I frowned.
"Yeah, but you all act like it, what have I really done to be watched so closely...?" I asked, turning away, it was quiet for a few minutes, finally Charles spoke once more.
"Fine, we'll leave for now Ryan, but if you're hiding anything," he headed towards the door, only Lexi remained behind, "You're going to be in serious trouble." He paused for a moment before leaving, "Your 'mate' can stay, for now."
I swallowed as he and the group left, my eyes turned to Lexi, "Why are you still here...?" I muttered, Lexi moved close to me, her lips right next to my ear.
"I know." She whispered, "You smell." her arm gripped my shoulder before she followed the rest out, I slowly looked at Mia, suddenly feeling embarrassed, did she mean I stink?
"Erm.. it's not really big but um...I guess you can sleep upstairs if you want..." I rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly, "You can borrow what's in my closet for now I guess," Mia just smiled, her face returning to it's normally timid state.
"Okay, thanks!" She hummed, with a nod she headed upstairs, I slowly lifted forearm up to my nose and inhaled.
Do I smell like something?
