Wolfgang slowly blinked as small rays of light peeked out of the gray clouds and filled the cave. He groaned in exhaustion and put his arm over his eyes to cover them once more. Wait, wasn't he keeping watch? Where's Lucinda?!

"Lucinda!" he exclaimed, bolting upright from his sleeping mat

"Good morning Wolfey," said Lucinda standing in the mouth of the cave with Fritz in her arms

"Thank the lord, I'm glad you're okay, did I fall asleep?" he asked

"Mhm, I woke up super early and saw you slumped up against the wall, so I kinda had to drag you to your mat," she said, approaching Wolfey "I was going to take off your mask but I remember you told me no one can see you without it, so I just took off your hat"

"Oh, thank you, Lucinda, how kind of you," he said, rising from his mat and putting on his hat "Now, you must be hungry, I could go get us something if you'd like"

"No need, I already ate, I found a raspberry bush. I have a small stomach so I get filled easily, I can't eat big meals"

"Splendid! Shall we be on our way then?" he cheered, rolling up both sleep mats and securing them on Magnolia

"But aren't you hungry?" asked Lucinda

"Surprisingly, no. And besides, I wouldn't be able to eat since my oath says I can never take off my mask in front of others"

Lucinda didn't reply after that, just sort of nodded and pulled her cloak's hood over her head.

After checking his map, the two set off hastily out of the forest, eventually arriving at a semi-clear plain with a dirt road.

This place would have looked beautiful if it weren't for these damn clouds thought Wolfey

"Are we headed to a town?" asked Lucinda, looking up at Wolfey

"Hm? Oh, yes, a city actually, I need to replenish some of our supplies since I forgot to when I was at your  village"

"Alright, I'm actually kinda excited since I never left the village, this will be a new experience for me"

He chuckled "Well then, make sure to stay close when we arrive, wouldn't want you getting lost now would we?"

------------------------------------------

After 3 hours of going through plains and roads, the pair finally arrived at Dawnmoore where two guards with spears stood at the gates leading into the city, with a trail of people lined up at the gates for entry.

"That's. . . a lot of people," said Lucinda nervously "How long will we have to wait?"

"Not a bit my dear! Us certified Physician Guild members can simply cut through entry lines like these, just watch!"

Wolfey steered Magnoli past the line and trotted up to the guards.

"Bonjour gentlemen! pleasant morning ay?" he said as he pulled out his guild identification card "Wolfgang Augustus Callaghan, one hundred twentieth doctor of the Physicians of The Crow"

The guards looked at each other and back to Wolfey before nodding and standing to the side, allowing them to pass

"Passe une bonne journée!"

------------------------------------------

It had been a while since Wolfey had been to a city since he immediately began traveling after he joined the Physicians of The Crow and only stopped at towns and villages. He normally had this sense of dread whenever he entered a city, but this time felt different, probably because Lucinda was with him, and it gave him a sense of pride in showing someone a place for the first time

"We should probably head to a stable first and find a place to stay, then we could go and re-stock, how does that sound?" he asked, looking down at Lucinda

"Hm? Oh, sure, I guess. . ."

After finding an Inn and unloading their things in their room, Wolfgang could see that Lucinda felt uneasy, as she fiddled with her fingers and squeezed Fritz tighter in her arms.

Wolfey went down on one knee to meet eyes with Lucinda as they stood in front of the Inn "Are you sure you're alright, Lucinda? You don't look too well"

Lucinda lifted her head to look at him "Y-ya, I'm fine" she mumbled

Wolfey looked at her worriedly before sighing and standing back up, dusting off his robes "Alright, I won't pressure you. But tell me when you need somethi-"

Wolfey felt a tug on his skirt and looked down "Can I . . . hold your hand? Please?" mumbled Lucinda

Wolfey smiled under his mask and took Lucinda's hand in his "Of course"

------------------------------------------

The market was bustling with patrons, stalls and buildings lined the cobblestone streets as the pair squeezed through the sea of people. Many of the people gave weird looks at Wolfey and Lucinda, murmuring things like "He looks scary" "What is he doing to that poor girl?" but Wolfey had grown to those kinds of remarks.

They stopped by stalls and shops, gathering fruits and other supplies as they made their way to Dawnmoore's central district where the best (and most expensive) stuff was sold.

"Ow!" cried Lucinda, bumping into Wolfey's leg as a large man with scars littering his body passed by the duo.

"Heh, watch you're going pipsqueak" chuckled the man.

"I say, sir! How could you be so heartless to a young girl like that?" demanded Wolfgang

The man froze in his tracks and turned around so his cold eyes met Wolfey's. He stomped toward Wolfey and Lucinda as he cracked his knuckles in his hands

"You wanna say that again little man?"

Wolfey smirked under his mask "My, you're much uglier up close"

The man grew roared with anger and swung a fist a Wolfgang. Wolfey ducked before the man's fist could hit him and pulled out his rapier, aiming it right against the man's neck making him freeze

"I propose you think before you decide to lay a finger on me or my companion, sir. I am part of the Physicians of The Crow, and laying a hand on a member without their permission is certainly illegal. Or. . ." Wolfey gestured the rapier closer to the man's neck "I can give you a tracheotomy"

The man backed away and walked off, mumbling curses.

"Phew, haven't threatened someone in a long time" he said when the man was out of earshot "Are you alright, Lucinda?"

Lucinda peeked out from behind Wolfey's robes "I'm alright. That man was scary"

"indeed he was, hopefully we won't have to see anyone like him in the duration that we're here"

"Are most strangers like that?"

"No, or at least, I hope not. The only relatively rude person I've met was my father Luther. But, that is a story for another time my dear" he said "But for now, lets make our way to the central district, and stay close"

Lucinda nodded and held Wolfey's hand tighter as they finally made it to the central district, which was the center of the market.
