Beeping could be heard, and I groaned, my hand flying up to clutch my aching head. My eyes remained closed, but my ears perked up when I heard the shuffle of feet followed by the sound of a familiar voice.

"Scar, babe, open your eyes. Please open them." Ross begged, grasping my hand in his.

Although my head was aching in protest, I let my eyes flutter open. Ross' blurry figure came into view, and I blinked a couple of times to clear my hazy vision. The first thing I noticed when my vision cleared was the bags under Ross' eyes. It looked like he hadn't slept in days, which I didn't understand.

"I'm so glad you're awake." He murmured, raising my hand to bring to his lips.

"What do you mean?" I asked, my voice coming out all raspy. I looked around the room I was in an my heart rate picked up when I realized I was in the hospital. "Why am I in the hospital? What's going on?"

A look of worry crossed his face. "You don't remember what happened?"

I shook my head slowly, my memory foggy. "The last thing I remember is going to the movies with Rydel and her friends."

He let out a sigh and opened his mouth, but quickly closed it when the door to the room opened. A male doctor walked in, his eyes focused on the clipboard in his hands. He lifted his head up and smiled when he saw me.

"Ah, I see you're awake, Scarlett." He crossed the room so he stood in front of my bed. "How are you feeling?"

"Um, tired, and my head hurts."  I admitted, slightly wincing at sharp pain I was feeling at the back of my hand.

The doctor nodded. "That's too be expected. You hit your head quite hard when you fell."

"When I fell?"

"She doesn't remember." Ross informed him.

"That's normal." The doctor said, stepping forward and reaching for a pen light in his coat pocket. He quickly shined the light in my eyes, and I couldn't help but flinch back. Having a light shone in your eyes when you hade a major headache was not pleasant.

He quickly checked my vitals and wrote down the results on his clipboard. "Well, everything looks normal. But you will have a headache for a few days, so don't hesitate to take some pain killers for some relief."

"Does that mean I can leave?" I asked, hopeful. I hated hospitals.

The doctor nodded. "There's no reason to keep you here. All your vitals checked out normal, which is a great. I'll get started on your discharge papers." I thanked him and he left the room, leaving Ross and I alone.

"Where is everyone?" I asked, realizing I hadn't seen any of the Lynch's yet. "And how long was I out for, 'cause you look like hell."

He chuckled and ran a hand through his hair. "Everyone's home, and you've been out for over twenty-four hours. I had to basically beg everyone to go home to get some sleep."

"Why didn't you go with them?" I couldn't help but ask.

He furrowed his eyebrows. "Scar, there was no way in hell I was going to leave you here alone. You're my girlfriend, and what kind of boyfriend leaves her girlfriend in the hospital alone?"

My heart skipped a beat at his words. "You're amazing, Ross." I murmured quietly. "But they don't suspect anything?"

"No, but even if they did I wouldn't care." He cupped my chin and gazed into my eyes. "I want to tell them, Scar. I want them to know that we're dating, because it kills me that I can't hold your hand or kiss you in public. We're always so secretive, and I honestly hate it. I just want to show the world your mine, and mine only."
