"Have a nice day." I smiled and waved to the customer as she walked out the door. My smile immediately fell and I groaned, leaning against the counter. I glanced at my watch and sighed in relief when I saw that I only had five more minutes left of my shit. To pass the time, I grabbed the Windex and cleaned the counter.

My job search had finally come to an end when I got a job at Starbucks. Although I wasn't necessarily happy about this job, I was just relieved that I had found one. It paid pretty well, but some customers were just plain rude. I was also relieved that I managed to remember how to make each drink. If I didn't know how, then I'd be completely screwed.

Once my shift ended, I clocked out and grabbed my jacket before saying goodbye to the other employees and walking out. It was around eight at night, so it was pretty dark out. I plugged in my headphones into my phone and clicked on a random song to listen to. I hummed along to the song, tapping my fingers to the sides of my thighs.

My eyes widened when I felt a hand grab onto my arm. My instincts kicked in and I spun around, kicking the unknown in the gut. The person groaned and fell onto his knees, clutching his stomach. "Jeez, Scar, you can seriously kick."

My jaw dropped at the sound of his voice, and I grabbed his arm, pulling him up. "What the hell, Ross." I hissed. "Are you crazy?"

"I knew when your shift ended, so I wanted to walk you home." He croaked out, his hand still over his stomach. "Surprising you wasn't the best idea."

My heart was rapidly beating from the scare, but it was slowly returning to normal. "Why would you want to surprise me?"

He stood up a little straighter, removing his hand from his stomach and shoving it in his back pocket. "I haven't seen you all day and I missed you." He admitted shyly.

I bit my lip, unsure what to say. If there was one thing I knew, it was that Ross was the sweetest guy alive. And after what happened in my room, I expected things for us to be awkward between us, but it was like our friendship grew stronger. We ended up having sex a couple more times after that night. There was a part of me that wanted to stop, but another part that wanted to continue.

"We need to stop, Ross." I blurted out. It was like my mouth had a mind of its own and I had no control. But I knew we needed to stop.

"Stop what?" He asked, confused.

I let out a breath. "Having sex. We have to stop, Ross. It's just not right." I shifted uncomfortably on the balls on my feet and waited for a response from the blonde in front of me. As much as I enjoyed having sex with him, I knew we had to stop.

"But we're not doing anything wrong." He insisted, stepping forward to grab onto my shoulders. "We're not hurting anyone, Scar. It's just sex."

That comment hurt for some reason, and I had no idea why. That was the truth; it was just sex. "It doesn't matter, Ross. This has to stop." The words tasted bitter on my tongue, and I was desperately wishing I could just rip it out. "I'm sorry, Ross." I murmured when he made no move to speak.

His jaw clenched, and his facial features hardened. "Fine. Whatever you want, Scarlett." He pushed past me, his shoulder crashing into mine. I watched him walk away, his entire body tense.

I was frozen in my spot, unsure of what to do. The way he said my name with such venom sent chills down my spine. I didn't understand why he got so pissed that I wanted to end this. He said it himself, it was just sex. So why did he care?

"Time for more awkward dinners." I muttered under my breath, starting the trek home.

"Rydel, I really don't want to go." I firmly told the blonde who was searching through my closet for something to wear. She just waved me off and continued looking through my closet. I let out a sigh and watched her basically tear apart my closet.
