Later that day
Forest near the compound..."Any heat signatures, Jarvis?" he asked as he flew over the forest but the forest was way too dense for Jarvis to figure out a heat signature from up there so Tony landed and walked out of the suit.
"I swear to god she's going to regret this so much," Tony said after one hour of searching but no trace of the runaway yet. It was nearly dark and his suit was providing light for them to see properly.
"Not so novice now huh?" Nat teased.
They had to have caught by now because Hailey had to use vents so that would've slowed her down and now they were practically twice her size so she couldn't have gone much further.
The only problem was that it was nearly dark and as they went deeper into the forest, it became more dangerous. Many species of venomous snakes and larger animals lived here.
"Tony you idiot! Activate the tracker!" Banner said through the earpiece, he was at the compound and had called Tony twice but Tony had removed his helmet and hadn't brought his phone.
Everybody looked at Tony who looked very embarrassed, he mumbled something and then told Jarvis to activate the tracker. Jarvis activated the tracker and it started beeping. The tracker was a tiny sticker that they had glued to her leg. The kid wouldn't even have known about it.
They hurried towards the sound.

Hailey had crawled through those vents and then ran through the lawn to get into the forest only so her foot could start beeping!
"Shut up! You're gonna get us caught!" she whispered to her foot which obviously didn't work. She also attempted to muffle the sound with leaves but none of it was working as footsteps were getting closer and closer towards her.
In one final attempt, she cast a muffliato charm wandlessly which seemed to work as the beeping paused and the footsteps paused for a second.
Feeling accomplished, she climbed on top of a tree as silently as possible. They still had to be a few feet away. She almost yelled out loud as her hand scratched through an unexpected rough piece of bark leaving a huge gash.
A few minutes later she could hear them right below her, they were so close. Please leave, she begged silently. She tried to control her heart which was pounding against her chest and she found it hard to breathe as she held onto her injured hand trying to stop the blood.
"Kid, just come out. You can't go anywhere. You stopped the tracker from beeping but anywhere you go, we can find you," Tony cautioned.
They had installed a tracker on her! Arseholes.
"We should go back now, it's practically dark," Natasha said.
"It's not safe to leave the kid here, she's right here we just don't know where. She won't make it out before nightfall," Clint said.
"I think-"
Hailey didn't hear the rest of the conversation as she saw a snake approaching Clint's leg. Her knowledge of snakes was very lacking but it could potentially be venomous. She had to make her decision quickly.
She took a closer look, it was a thick snake. Definitely venomous and Clint was wearing shorts. It was starting to wrap itself around his leg. She saw Clint stiffen, he had become aware of the situation but couldn't do anything at the moment and that's when Hailey jumped down.
'Nooo. Don't hurtttt himmm," Hailey hissed in parseltongue.
'A speakerrrr, We don't getttt thattt arounddd here," There snake hissed back. 'We mussttt obey the speakersssss'
'Pleaseeee don't hurt themmmm," Hailey said.
"Foooooodddd," the snake hissed back.
"Not thissssss fooddddd. Pleasssseee,"
"I'll leaveee thisss walkerrr too youuu ssspeakerrr, come by ssssooonn."
"Thank youuuu," Hailey hissed.
The snake unraveled itself from Clint's leg and slithered away into the forest. They all turned their eyes onto her after witnessing her talking to a snake.
"I'm guessing, you won't be giving me a second chance to leave," Hailey said.
"Well thank you for uh that but no, you're coming with us," Clint said.
"For saving your life while you're keeping me hostage? No worries," Hailey replied with a hint of sarcasm. She would try to reason with them to let her go but they weren't going to budge and she had a tracker on her. Maybe she should make a run for it.
"If you're thinking about running, don't," Natasha advised.
"Let's go, we're going back," Tony said and they started walking back towards the compound.
"This has to be illegal, I didn't even get a phone call. I do have friends and family," Hailey mumbled.
"Just watch, as soon as we get back, you'll regret this so much," Tony commented.
"Are you going to ground me? Lock me in my room? Starve me or not let me go out with friends?" Hailey shot back calmly causing a small smile to appear on Natasha and Steve's faces as if they shared some inside joke.
"You little shit," Tony said.
"Steve! Tony said a bad language word in front of a kid!" Natasha fake-complained.
Steve kicked a pebble towards her and they laughed.
"So what else have you guys put into me?" Hailey asked nonchalantly as they neared the compound.
"A tracker," Tony replied. "And stop talking unless you want to say something useful,"
Then after that everyone practically ignored her, of course, she was sent to her room but this time Natasha brought her a plate and she couldn't help feel a little hurt because Steve hadn't talked to her in forever now.
"Where's Mr.Rogers?" Hailey asked.
"He's watching TV with everyone else. I am going to sit here until you finish that plate so hurry up," Natasha prompted.
Hailey didn't argue, she was tired and hungry so she finished eating and Natasha took the plate.
"'Night," she said locking the door shut. The vent in her room was sealed shut and she thought about Hermione and Ron. They were probably sending letters and worrying about her and if you looked back far enough. It was her fault, she had been the one to trust Raina.
A/N: It's a bit of a short chapter but we're getting there!!
