"Draken! Hurry your ass up!" I shouted as I banged on the door.
Every once in a while Draken and I make our way back to what we call home. The brothel. We mostly couch surf at friends houses since a brothel isn't exactly the best living situation, but we did find ourselves coming back every now and again to get some of our stuff and let the people who essentially raised us know that we are still alive.
After a few moments of waiting very impatiently Draken opened the door and we headed off. Toman was having another meeting about the battle that was coming up. I am an unofficial member, since I'm a girl. No matter how many guys asses you can kick, being a girl just makes everyone feel the need to protect you. Although, I know all these guys have my back and they know I've got there's. The meeting was pretty tense since this fight coming up is gonna be no joke. Once everyone leaves, it's just Draken, Mikey, Chifuyu, Mitsuya, and myself hanging around. "You shouldn't fight in this one," Draken says quietly taking a seat next to me, "The guys they have on there side wouldn't stand down from killing even a girl." Hearing those words sent anger coursing through my body. Why did he always have to try and protect me. He's the one who taught me to fight in the first place! "Draken, that is so unfair of you to say right now! You don't get to make decisions for me!" I began to shout. The other boys looking over to see the argument unfolding. "I'm not trying to decide anything for you. I'm just trying to keep you alive. I know you're reckless and I damn well know strength comes with that but please consider not getting involved this time." Draken said sternly while staring back at me with those sincere black eyes. I looked around at the other boys now awkwardly staring at us. "I'll see you guys on the 31st then."
After walking for about twenty minutes I finally reached the Sano home. Unlocking the door with the spare key hidden under a rock, I slumped into Emma's room and immediately fell over onto the bed. "Uh oh. What happened now Kiyoko?" Emma has such a soothing voice that it's hard to be angry around her. "Draken wants me to stay out of yet another fight. I swear he has been so overprotective recently. It's driving me absolutely insane!" Dragging my hands down my face, I looked over at Emma, "I just want him and everyone else to actually take me seriously. Toman is a family and I should be allowed to defend it right alongside everyone else right?" I went on ranting to Emma, while she patiently listened, until sleep took over my body.
"Somebody needs to raise that child like a proper lady."
"She won't get anywhere in life acting like a delinquent."
"She deserves to be living on the streets with that attitude."Tossing and turning, fighting the nightmares, my eyes jolted open. Staring into darkness I could feel my heart about to beat out of my chest. Not wanting to move in fear of waking Emma up, I just laid in silence until the sun came up. "Nightmares again?" A soft voice whispered. I turned my head to meet Emma's eyes. She's been my best friend for as long as I can remember. One of the only people, one of the only girls in fact, to ever accept me. I confided in her after years of friendship. Trust isn't exactly my strong suit. Once the trust was officially established though, nothing was ever held back. She knew everything about me. I nodded my head and gave her a smile to let her know everything was okay.
A few hours later Emma and I found ourselves getting some retail therapy in at the designer boutiques in Roppongi. We filled every rack in every store, trying anything and everything on. Literally shopping till we drop. As the day came to an end and we made it back home, I was faced with reality again. The next few days were filled with nothing but school work and having to listen to the boys talk about the upcoming fight. Trying to stay out of it to avoid anymore unwanted fights with Draken, easedropping became my new greatest talent. Still planning on fighting with them you just needed to last one more day without any conflict.
Feeling like the day would never come, you ran out the door after being up early, anxious for the days events. Running out of breathe you took the elevator up to the second floor and found yourself at chifuyus apartment. He filled you in on some key details you weren't able to overhear and then you got on the back of his bike and made you're way to an abandoned car lot. Upon arrival, chifuyu begins to point out all the spectators for today's event. You had never been to such a huge battle before. Looking around in awe, getting even more excited, you felt eyes on you. Looking up and to the left you locked eyes with a man sitting on top of a pile of cars. He had long black/blonde pigtail braids and wore a calm, lazy smile on his face. You couldn't help but hold the eye contact trying to make out what this feeling was that began to grow inside you. "Earth to Kiyoko," chifuyu said waving his hands in front of your face. Holding the eye contact for a second longer you finally turned to chifuyu. "That man you were just gawking over. That's one of the Haitani brothers. They rule over Roppongi." Punching him in the arm, you gave him a sarcastic stern look, "I was not gawking but thanks for the info." You both laughed and turned around to gather with the others. The feeling of being watched still lingered, turning back for a second to check, the brothers eyes remained locked on you.
