the madrigals

victoria pov

i wasnt sure what the reason was for mirabel deciding that someone she had just met would be good to see something many have not. i felt somewhat sorry for what the future held for them but on my side it was for the best. i couldn't care for them or find myself getting attached to any. it was much harder than i thought, especially with camilo.

"victoria?" mirabel tapped my shoulder as we stood outside of brunos door.

i jumped and turned to her, forgetting what was happening at first.

"sorry, i was just thinking." i smiled and took a step closer to the door.

mirabel grabbed the doorknob and it came open surprisingly easily. for a door that hadn't been opened in like 10 years you would expect it to be quite difficult but it was not.

"casita, can you turn off the sand?" mirabel asked, shaking the pile of sand off of her hand as best as she could.

seeing the house move was never going to feel normal to me as mine doesnt ever go like that.

"you cant?" she furrowed her eyebrows and sighed.

she whispered something and took a step into the sand, immediately falling. i closed the door behind me quickly and gasped.

"mirabel?" i shouted, moving towards the sand.

"down here!" a quiet voice yelled back, causing me to give up and jump.

i slid down the sand and shook all the sand in my hair out, standing up and looking around. the first thing i noticed was the thousands of stairs waiting for us ahead.

"mirabel..?" i pointed towards the stairs and she looked, her jaw dropping.

"lots of stairs but at least i have a friend." she smiled at me, processing her words before smiling back.

we walked up the stairs, after only a few minutes she was worn out. we tried talking but she got way too tired after maybe half of them. we made our way up to the top and heard her groan from in front of me.

"bruno your room is the worst!!! but we made it." she peaked over the last few steps and saw the platform.

we rushed onto it only to see a gap in the middle that was impossible to jump.

"how do we cross?" i ask, looking down.

she grabs a fence and pulls the rope apart, tying it to us both and tightening it.

"are you sure this is safe?" i held onto her out of fear.

"no."

"thanks!"

she pulled on the rope one last time before preparing herself, leaving no time for me. she ran and threw us off the edge, me holding in my screams until we were thrown to the other side.

"woooo!" she cheered and stomped her foot.

the rock beneath her broke and i stepped backwards, thinking she would fall. she didnt. we walked into the enterance of a creepy hallway type thing, looking at the walls with confusion and a bit of fear. she knocked over a pot and rats ran out, right up into the statues nose.

"thats great." i laughed nervously.

she looked at me and smiled weakly, giving me barely enough time to see her thoughts and engrave them into my own. im kind of glad i brought her, i can trust her with this. oh.
there was a vault at the end of the hallway, an open vault that we amazingly stepped into!
