it began to hurt victoria knowing that the family trusted her and she was using them for hers. they were nicer than she was told as a kid, very welcoming and they seemed happier. they were portrayed as the bad guys who would do anything to get their way. the more she learned about them, the more she learned that it was more like hers.

"vic, you ok?" camilo walked up from behind her.

she was sitting against a large tree, zoned out completely. she frowned and looked at him while he say down beside her.

"i just want to go home..." she covered her face with her hand and cried.

camilo didnt know how to react and just pulled her towards him. once she decided her act was pretty much done now she pulled away and wiped the tears from her cheek.

"sorry." she apologized and stood up to go back to the village.

"oh no its ok-" he stood up after her and stood awkwardly.

i think she trusts me now, thats good. his thoughts were somewhat confusing. he could either be happy because they both trusted each other or he just wanted her to trust him for something else.

"is there anything going on tonight?" victoria asked one more question before leaving.

"mmmm... not that i know of." he thought about it but nothing came to mind.

shes seriously leaving already? am i being creepy?

"well, thanks! bye." she smiled at the boy who was still deep in thought.

right as she walked off he yelled back at her.

"also, lunch is in a bit! make sure to come." she turned and gave him a thumbs up.

fuck, that was weird wasnt it. he seemed to overthink lots of things, many people did though. the night before she had told colette and her parents everything she found so far, including the whole mirabel incident. they seemed happy with what she had found so far. the days seemed boring in such a small village and her powers werent very helpful. she could find out small things but nothing too big. the life back in italy was usually more interesting, her family always having something to do and if not there was always colette.

boredom slowly faded as younger children began crowding around her and asking her questions. it wasnt exactly what she had in mind for the day but it was better than nothing. she never slipped up once even though the stress was beginning to take over her thoughts. right before she was about to lose it a voice called out to her from behind.

"vic!" he really wasnt helping though.

out of all the people she had met, she actually cared about camilo. she knew she would end up hurting him in the end and that pained her to even think about.

"camilo, hi!" she turned and skipped towards him to try to escape the children.

he walked away from the kids with her, looking back occasionally.

"i saw you looked kind of annoyed so... wanna go take arepas with me?" he whispered so quietly she doubted even dolores could hear.

she smiled and shook her head at his idea but couldnt just say no.

"sure, but how?"

"i can shapeshift and get us both some. come on!" he dragged her towards a table with food sitting on it.
