interrogations

the romanos

colette was tied to a chair with part of the romano family surrounding her. a knife was in victorias mother, elizabeths hand.

"colette.. you know we love you, right?" astrid squatted down beside the chair.

colette looked down at the girl with fear in her eyes as she squirmed again. the cold blade touched her lower thigh as elizabeths face stayed hard. her husband stood beside with his brothers and sister.

"what did victoria tell you that she didnt tell us?" the tall man asked.

victorias father, arlo, was a scary man at times although colette was raised around him. she personally knew the romanos as nice people but knew the rest of the world didnt.

"its really nothing.. i-i swear!"

the blade pressed down hard enough to barely break the skin, making her squirm and a tear drop from her eye. elizabeth felt bad for what she was doing but cared more for her daughters well being. astrid held colettes hand from behind the chair and rubbed the back of her hand with her thumb.

"fine! ill tell you just.. please stop."

elizabeth immediately pulled the metal away from the young girl and stepped back. she looked up at her husband who felt equally as bad and he just nodded. his sisters hands rose and she curled her index and middle finger, closing the wound on the leg. she couldnt heal it but it would be closed as long as she kept her hands steady.

"one of the madrigals asked her out and she said yes."

arlo and elizabeth both looked at eachother and arlo went to leave but colette spoke again. her voice wasnt as steady as last time.

"she said it will help out the plan. you dont want to mess that up, right?"

the oldest romano walked in, cane in his hand and a hot chocolate in the other. elizabeth quickly moved out of the way for the man and his children greeted him.

"ms zarro.. why are you in that chair?" the elderly man approached her.

arlo reached out to stop his father but astrid raised a hand and froze him in his steps. astrid was his least favorite niece but was victorias favorite cousin. colette looked up at the man who put a knife next to her wrist and cut the ropes.

"thank you, sir."

"oh please.. sir is for my enemies. i see you as family." he held out the hot chocolate.

she took it and took a sip, feeling weird from the sudden friendliness from the man even she knew as cruel. he watched as she downed the whole glass and a small smile appeared on his face.

"now.. colette, tell me which madrigal this was."

her eyes were blank and she nodded.

"camilo."

the man turned back around and faced his children, holding his hand out towards his youngest. elijah created a heavier item and put it into his fathers hand. one of the other cousins walked forwards, knowing the procedure.

"you remember nothing of today."

"i remember nothing of today."

the older man raised his hand with the object and slammed it against colettes head, knocking her out immediately.

"take her to the guest bedroom." arlo told his siblings and walked out.

elizabeth followed behind her husband with her head down. they had said the zarros would never be hurt but they just did. that was because colette would never have to remember what happened. the rest of the romano family would remember it, including elizabeth, the best friend of colettes mother. arlos arm wrapped around his wife and pulled her into his side.
