After 'Adventure Time' had finished, I walked into the lounge to see Phil and Leasha asleep in each others arms. Awwww. Phil's arms were around Leasha's shoulders and he rested his head on hers. She was nuzzled into his chest, her arms entangled with his, she was led in between his legs and both of them were snoring gently.
I padded silently through to the kitchen to get a glass of water before going back into Dan's room to say goodnight.
"Hey, Dan. Phil and Leasha have fallen asleep on the sofa again, come look!" I say in a strange shout-whisper.
"Ohhh, lets have a look!" He replied, taking his headphones off and standing up quickly. Both of us went back to the lounge and stood by the door, leaning on the door frame. "Well isn't that cute." Dan sighed, leaning his head on the wooden frame.
"I might go and do the same now," I piped up, "I'm getting pretty tired after today's 'events'". I stepped over to Dan and kissed him on the cheek before heading to 'my' room. After staying at Dan and Phil's flat, Leasha and I had been allocated a room together with two beds in it. Leasha hasn't stayed in it yet because she keeps falling asleep on the sofa, but tonight was my first night in this room. and to be perfectly honest - I was scared. The room was pure white with no pictures, just dark blue curtains, black bedsheets and white walls. There was no homey atmosphere in this room like there was in the others. I switched on the bedside lamp and changed into my pyjamas. The bedsheets were cold, so I led on them to warm them up a bit. I heard footsteps in the hall outside and I figured it was Dan going into his room, the shadow passed by the door and Dan's bedroom door closed. The shadow disappeared along with the light in the hall.
I scrambled under the duvets which were now slightly warm and squeezed my eyes closed. The shadows the lamp cast were starting to move around the room and I couldn't take it anymore. My brain wouldn't let me rest anymore and went into overdrive. I was in that horrible awake-but-asleep state and memories came flooding back. I left Blackpool for a reason. One of my friends was almost murdered and I just stood there and watched. I ran aaway from her. Sometimes I wished it was me not her that got attacked. I feel awful to this day and swore never to abandon anyone, but to help them. It never happened, but I always dreamed that it was me in that position and different scenarios in which it could have been me.The horrible, gangly figure approached me in my dream state, knife pointed at my throat. I thrashed about, avoiding the blade that was following me. Screams escaped my dry lips causing my throat to rasp. He began calling my name, over and over again in that horrifyingly menacing voice. My eyes flooded with tears and I gave up, curling into a ball and sobbing.
"Brooke...Brooke, Brooke! Please wake up... you're scaring me, please wake up!" The voice of the man became softer and he didn't have the knife pressed to my throat anymore, instead he was...hugging me.
I peeled my eyes open to find myself not in my room anymore. I was in a dimly lit room, in a warm bed, but my shoulder was wet and so was my pyjama shirt. I turned round to see Dan. He was holding my hand, looking down with shining lines streaking down his face.
He was crying.
"Dan, Dan, what's wrong?" I asked kneeling in front of him.
"Oh my God, Brooke. Promise me you'll never do that to me again!" He cried, pulling me into a massive hug, burying my head in his shoulder and his head in my hair.
"What happened, I don't understand?" I asked in confusion.
"You were dreaming, you fell out of your bed, so I came to see if you were okay, but you were flailing about on the floor and I couldn't wake you, a-and I-I..." Dan spluttered. Tears began to fill in his eyes again and I couldn't move. "I thought you wouldn't wake up. Then you started screaming and I tried talking to you, but you stopped moving and just began making whistley noises, just rasping so I picked you up off the floor and brought you in here, begging you to wake up. My God, Brooke, I was so scared for you." He continued.
I leaped back into his arms wrapping my arms around him, crying softly.
"I'm sorry Dan, I didn't mean to scare you like that. I thought I was awake. I thought someone was trying to kill me. I was so scared, Dan." My voice began to crack at the end as I buried my head into his shoulder. His hand cradled the back of my head as I wept. As I looked up, Dan stared into my pale blue eyes, wiping the tears from my cheeks. Switching between my eyes,he cupped the side of my face, calming me down as well as himself. I began to get lost in the pools of varying different shades of brown, from chocolates to mahogany's, before his eyelids engulfed them and his warm lips pressed against mine. It took me a few seconds to realise what just happened. Then it clicked. I melted into the kiss, our lips moving together, his scent filled my senses as we pulled apart. He rested his forehead against mine and stared into my eyes again, making my heart and my stomach flutter. I peered over at the clock to see it was 12:14am.
"Happy Birthday, Dan." I whispered before connecting our lips again. I felt him smile and again, my tummy fluttered.
This was perfect.
