Tugging on Wires Like an Idiot

Sun meandered back over to the pillow pile, sitting down next to me with a whumpf. I reached over and grabbed the manual with both hands, grunting as I dragged it on top my lap.
"O-kayyyy..." I mumbled as I flipped through the pages, eventually landing on a section labeled MOUTH. I scanned over a couple passages in silence as Sun curiously read over my shoulder.
"Do you think you can do it?" He asked quietly.
I shrugged. "looks like I just have to reconnect wires and then just kinda..." I made a fist and wrapped my other hand around it in demonstration, "...snap it back in place." Sun shuddered.
"Could you grab your, uh, tongue for me?" I asked. He nodded, getting up and hopping off the balcony to search for it. I sighed, finally having a moment to myself.
Just get this over with and then you can fall asleep with him. I mentally paused. I meant sleep. By myself. I blamed my slip-up on the creeping exhaustion- I hadn't had any sort of decent sleep in what felt like years. Sun was still gone, and if I didn't do something I was sure I'd fall right asleep. I decided to flip through the manual, reading the titles: EYES, NECK & CHEST, ARMS, TORSO, LOWER TORSO...Lower torso!? I stopped for a second, then curiously flipped the pages over to the section. Does he...?
"Got it!" Sun announced cheerfully as he hefted himself onto the balcony. I slammed the book shut, breaking out into a nervous sweat. I hadn't even had the chance to read the first sentence, but the guilt still hung over me. Sunny noticed something was off.
"Everything okay?"
"Yep! All good!" I practically cut him off with my overenthusiastic assertion. He wasn't convinced, but didn't press the matter. Sun held up the severed tongue, which occasionally twitched. "Now what?"
I pat the pillows next to me, opening the manual back up to the page I needed while he took a seat.
There really wasn't a good way to go about positioning myself for this repair. I ended up sitting on his lap; it was the most comfortable way to go about it for the both of us. It didn't stop a rosy hue from tinging both of our faces, though. He produced an awkward smile as he gazed down at me. I couldn't help but return the expression.
"Okay, sunbeam. Let's get this over with."
He opened his mouth, sticking his tongue out as far as he could. Despite his efforts, I'd still have to stick my hands in his mouth. Although his teeth weren't nearly as sharp as Moon's, I could just as easily envision my hand getting cleaved off if Sun decided to bite down. Not the time for those kind of thoughts. I tentatively reached both of my hands in his mouth, one holding the fidgety tongue while I found the corresponding wires with the other. Okay, let's do this. I grabbed a wire from sun and reattached it to the rest of his tongue.
"Gah-h...!" Sun groaned, his hands flexing and relaxing.
I yanked my hands out of his mouth. "Sorry! I'll be more gentle."
"No!" He blurted, "n-no, ith okaeh." his partially connected tongue was making it hard for him to speak, but his tone surprised me.
"Are you sure?"
He nodded, his face still rosy. Was he blushing more? I couldn't tell.
"Just push me away or something if it gets to be too much." I stuck my hands back into his mouth, grabbing another wire to reconnect. He let out a breathless sigh as I pulled the two wires together. I hope he's not getting fed up with this. I hurriedly entwined the next wire, wanting to get this done before he got upset. I must've yanked it.
"..A-Ahh.." came the low response.
"You're doing great, I'm almost done." I reassured him as I reached for the last two wires. All I had to do now was to click it all back in place.
"Sorry about this." I snapped the end of his tongue back into place, which prompted a gasp from Sun.
Next thing I knew, his hands were on my waist. I braced myself to be thrown backwards, only to find myself being pulled closer into him. I quickly snatched my hands out of his mouth. What's with him? I probably fucked up his wiring. I looked up at him apologetically.
"I-I'm sorry, Sun. I tried to be gentle-" I was cut off as Sun's lips suddenly met mine.
