I was right about that red light in Sunny's chest- apparently it was a power indicator. What I didn't notice was the tiny REBOOT button directly below it, which would've been nice in hindsight. Regardless, I was glad to receive the crash course on all this.
"Hey, thanks again for showing me the ropes." I smiled at Chris, who was moving aside some wires in the chest cavity to reach the reboot button.
"Of course! You're a quick learner, so it's no trouble to me." He glanced up to flash a friendly smile.
He must've pressed the button, because Sun's body jolted against the restraints as his eyes shot open.
"Wait! Wh-..." He started, dazed and confused.
"You're okay, Sunny! I'm right here." I reassured as I began to slacken the restraints.
"Did you...did you find anything?" Sun questioned with a hint of nervousness in his tone. I shook my head as I undid the last restraint, at which he rubbed at his wrists. "No, the computer died before we could find out."
He nodded quietly, sitting up and gently tugging the singular cable out from his chest and handing it to Chris.
"Thanks, Sun." Chris wrapped up the wire, looking back at the computer, "You guys can go ahead and get back to the daycare, I think I'm gonna try to battle this damn thing one last time."
I hesitated, then nodded; there was no way I wanted to hang around any longer in the freakish operating room. "Good luck, I'll see you around."
I left the protective cylinder, aware of Sun following a half-step behind.
He's never this quiet... I side-eyed him, unable to read his expression.
We turned the corner, and his hands seemed to materialize on my body: kisses, hugs, and a couple inappropriate gropes were then delivered in quick succession. I chuckled, rather impressed with his confidence.
"What's got into you?" I asked jokingly after pulling my lips from his.
"I missed you, sunbeam." His expression couldn't have been any softer, "I hate being away from you..." his expression switched, his gaze hardening as he scowled, "...and you were alone with him."
He was definitely talking about Chris.
"Why? He's a friend- he just helped us out!"
Sun didn't seem to buy the counter-argument as he expelled an unamused grunt. "I don't trust him, especially when you're alone with him." He pulled me close, running a hand through my hair. "You're mine."
"You've got nothing to worry about, Sunny, I promise."
Sun flashed a small smile, clearly unconvinced. "So, what did he have to say?"
I shrugged. "Nothing much, other than mentioning that I should keep an eye on you at all times."
Keep an eye on me?" He repeated, not necessarily upset about the news, "At all times?"
I laughed, knowing where this was going. "I suppose so, it looks like I'll have to spend a couple nights with you...just to make sure."
Sunny giggled excitedly, picking me up and spinning me around.
"A sleepover EVERY NIGHT!?" He exclaimed, his infectious laughter spreading to me. I nodded, excited to spend my nights with them.
I hope Moon is excited, too. I thought as we finally returned to the daycare.
Sun pulled me in and laced kisses along my cheek the moment we stepped through the doors, moving downward and stopping at my neck.
"Right, we still need to handle this." He grumbled, gesturing to the teeth marks on my neck.
"Yeah..." I sighed.
"Let me fix you up, sweetheart." He cooed, picking me up and carrying me to my bed; I gingerly touched the bite mark while he left to fetch some supplies, wincing as I accidentally broke open the skin.
Damn it, I'm bleeding now! Sun's gonna freak out. I tried to put some pressure on the wound, but that only made it worse.
"I found some- OH MY GOODNESS!" Sun dropped all the items in his clutch as he caught me in his view.
"It's fin-"
"No no NO! You're bleeding, that's NOT okay!" He grabbed a towel, using it to sop up the excess that was pooling onto my collarbone, "Moon is in BIG TROUBLE!" He muttered grimly, removing the towel to take a better look.
"Is it really that bad?"
He didn't respond.
"Sunny...?"
Silence. I was starting to get panicky.
What I wasn't expecting was the sensation of his tongue running across my neck. I stiffened with surprise; this was new.
"S-Sun...? What are you-"
"Jussssst...cleaning off the area..." He mumbled, tasting the blood with a smirk, "And I love how you tasssssssste....." Sun leaned in closer, his hands gripping firmly onto my waist.
I could feel his teeth fasten on my neck.
It hurt, but he wanted more.
