Groot was first up, the little tree came bounding into the living area. Trailing a leaf behind him. He awoke Nebula who was fast asleep in there by hitting her with his long vines.
'Tree go away.' Nebula mumbled.
'I am groot!' *I am hungry*. The little tree cried.
'Go get food yourself sticks.' Her face was pressed against her pillow and marked by the lining of her sheets.
The tree skipped into the meal prep place, they didn't really have a kitchen it was kind of just a space with a small heater and mini fridge, but it was good enough. Groot pulled at the fridge handle, sifted through zark nut packaging and revealed the thing he was looking for. 'Earthlings' were a popular cereal brand for kids in the galaxy, like coco pops but they were tiny people covered in a layer of meteorite sprinkles. Groot adored them, he pulled out a bowl bigger than him and slowly poured in Orloni milk. He then whipped out a shovel and began to dig in. He hoped over to the cockpit and sat in drax's seat, knowing it would piss him off.----------------------------------------------------------
'Why would that work?' Rocket was shouting to Drax.
'Use your small brain to figure it out.'
'Drax if you have 4 yams and you eat 3 there's no way you're gonna be left with 7.'
'There is 3 inside me and the 4 yams i have.'
'Pass me that gun.'
'Why?'
'so i can shoot myself'.
Groot tucked his bowl closer to him, slurping up the rest of the Orloni milk.
'Oh hey tree.' Drax picked groot up by the collar and flicked him away, milk flew everywhere.
'Great, now theres milk everywhere.' Rocket stated being proudly obvious.
Drax shrug his shoulders and sat down, they both left the milk splodges for someone else to deal with.
'So who's gonna tell the tree about uh her.' Drax asked.
'I dibs Quill, he's the one who brought her here.'
Drax nodded and continued to pick earthlings from the floor and plop them into his mouth.
Gradually the ship rose back to life, Mantis was always wide awake whenever she got up. And brought a livelyness into the cockpit.
'Hello friends! it's 8:03 and i'm awake now'.
'Hi mantis.' The crew echoed not turning around.
Quill was next to take the runway, he scoffed as he walked down the stairs leading deeper to the steering gears.
'Who broke up with you Quill, oh wait.' Rocket jeared.
'Piss of Rodent.' Quill said taking his seat.
'What's next Quill?' Rocket snatched a planet reader out of his hand. 'We go looking for some long lost sister of yours, she'll probably be your girlfriend as well knowing your history.'
'Unlike the creatures in space, us people in missouri don't tend to bang up our sisters.'
'That's the place uhm albamie?' Mantis spoke.
'Correct bug lady, see she's got it.' Quill did a double finger point in Mantis' direction.
'Quit lying, your family trees a circle.'
'Is not.' Quill starting muttering to the rest of the crew.
Quill huffed a bit before continuing
'Anyway before i was rudely interrupted.' Quill eyed rocket. 'I thought we could stop off at Contraxia for a bit, get some beers and some lalalaladiees'.
'You know Quill you've eaten so much trash that it normally comes outta your mouth, but i guess it's taken a break today.' That was rockets way of saying cheers.
Contraxia was a small clubbing planet that was filled with bars, night clubs and some questionable dance rinks. It was
always a good time on the rare occasion they went.
'Is your green friend gonna come with us?' Drax asked.
'She's your green friend as well Drax. And i don't know, she seems to have lots of authority so i guess if she wants to go, we'll let her.' Quill looked down.
'His heart aches.' Mantis projected her hands on peters skull.
'Mantis?!?!! What are you doing, quit touching my head.'
'AHAHAHAHA the earth puppy feels emotion.' Drax cackled.
'This isn't me siding with Quill, but Drax you make no sense tough guy.' Rocket took the ships controls and plugged in the coordinates to Contraxia.
'What do we do now?' Quill bent his hips.
'What do you mean?' Rocket turned his head.
'Well we don't spend all our time flying, so what do we do when we don't command the ship?'
'Uh'. Rocket couldn't answer. 'I don't know.'
Quill shrugged and took to finding something to do in his 'man cave'. This was a room that bent to the side of the cockpit, it was covered by a beige curtain that had seen better days. The room wasn't large, it wasn't even regular. It was off centre and a bit of a mess. But it was where he spent most of his time.
'Oh sorry.' Gamora had accidentally walked in there.
Catching Quill off guard. 'Oh no don't be sorry.'
'Don't be sorry Quill wtf are you on about you creep.' Quill thought.
Gamora couldn't help but see a more vulnerable side of this man since the events last night. She wanted to talk to him, but didn't know how. Knowing that this so called 'guardian of the galaxy' could sob about her was comforting in a way. It let her know somebody cared. She wasn't attracted to him though, definitely not at all. Ok maybe just a bit. But that was it. And that was all there ever was gonna be.
'This room is nice.' She said wiping her finger along a desk to reveal a sprinkling of dust.
'Designed by yours truly.' The star lord leant back.
Gamora rolled her eyes, and the shimmer of wrapping paper caught her eyes.
'What's that?' She had pointed at another unopened present from Peters mother.
'Oh that? that's nothing.' Quill made a face and shoved it in a draw.
'Right.' The two stood in silence for a bit. 'Oh sorry about kicking your ass yesterday it was just you know reflexes.'
'Oh no i understand.' Quill rubbed the muscle on his arm remembering the kick. 'But iw ouldn't count it as you kicked my ass maybe gave it a little nudge.' Quill protested uunder his breathe, to quiet for Gamora to hear.
'Great.' Gamoras expressions were limited and remained very plain.
Once again they were stood in a silence that felt like forever, Quill rocked back in his chair whilst gamora eyed the rest of his stuff.
'What's that?' She asked again, pointing to Quills zune.
'This? This is quite possibly the most powerful thing in the galaxy.' Quill showed it off.
The green girls eyebrows raised and she tucked her lip underneath one another. 'So what does it do?'
'Music.'
'What?'
'Music, it plays music.' Quill frantically backed up his point.
'So my machine gun wouldn't do as much damage as... your music?' Gamoras face pulled a mocking expression.
'Well theoretically no-'
'So it's not the most powerful thing in the galaxy.'
'Well i don't think your machine gun is the most powerful thing in the galaxy.'
'I'll put that to the test for you'
'No it's fine i believe you .' Quill knew she was serious and she wouldn't hesitate to blow his brains out.
'mmh' Gamora spun on her shoe and began to walk away.
'Wait.' Quills voice came out louder than he expected. He stuttered 'Rockets supposed to be flying us to Contraxia. You heard of it?'.
'Obviously, drunk men and broke women.'
'Yeah! That's the place.' Quill laughed awkwardly. 'So are you coming?'
'Do i have a choice?'
'Uh well you could probably convince the raccoon-'
But before he could finish she had walked out, partially agreeing to the visit to Contraxia but Quill couldn't be sure. She didn't actually have a choice seeing as they were in the middle of the galaxy and a Raccoon was flying them.
