*** Now that all is right with the world... Here's the new thing. I'm still stupid. XD ***

The train to work was unusually quiet. Avi was sitting right next to me, twiddling his thumbs, and humming slightly to some song he was blasting in his ears. I had read at least 3 chapters of this book and I honestly got bored. Not that I liked having the endings of books spoiled, this was just a bad book. I sighed and tucked the book into my bag. I looked over at Avi; innocently enjoying whatever music he was listening to. I pulled out the headphone closest to me and pressed into my ear, inviting myself into Clean Bandit's new album. I felt him look over at me, but I was preoccupied with watching for my stop. After a while, I returned his glance and he smiled at me.

"What?"

"You're really pretty."

"You're still an ass."

He chuckled and turned away from me. The train pulled to a stop and we stood up together. He walked out with me and stood close by, being careful not to pull the headphone out of my ear. Normally, I would have been annoyed, but there was a calmness in the silence of us just sharing music casually.

"Hey!" Someone was yelling behind us. "Hey, Avi!" He grabbed the inside of my arm, to stop me, and turned around. His face seemed to light up.

"Kevin! What are you doing out here?"

"I was doing some recording for this thing with Yo-Yo Ma." They roughly clasped hands and pulled into each other. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms. In Avi's sudden bro moment, both headphones had ended up on the ground between his legs. "What are you doing out here, Playa?"

Playa? Really?

"Visiting Esther. Her shop is right across from Brewery. Is that where you recorded?"

"Yeah! I love recording there. They're so friendly."

"You've-... You record there?" Why was I nervous? This was just one of the idiots dumb friends. I needed to know more about the studio. I had to!

"Huh? Avi, who's this?"

"This is Mitch. My girlfriend."

"Fuck you," I spat. The smile on his face was irritatingly beautiful. I wanted to punch him.

"I like him," Kevin laughed. He held his hand out towards me and I shook it.

He was already better than the one I had a planned date with. Bet money he's straight. Avi and Kevin launched into conversation and I was running short on time. I turned and swiftly started walking away. I could still make it in time if I just kept walking. Avi quickly caught up with me just before I rounded the corner, grabbing my hand and forcing me to stop. I yanked my hand out of his angrily. Would he live until Friday?

"I'm going to be late."

"Let's run then."

"You'll be alone."

He smiled and walked next to me, making me move faster than I was before. He held his headphone out to me and I snatched it from his hand. As much as I hated him, he had great taste in music. He was such a... A fuck nugget!

I stopped in front of NY Apps and stared at the perfectly crafted exterior of the recording studio of my dreams. I could only imagine the beauty of the studios inside. I wanted to belt into one of their expensive microphones and have the wavelengths of my soul recorded over melodic phrases and bouncing chords that I could only imagine. I wanted it so bad. I'll get there. I smiled and turned around, walking in to clock in. Three minutes late. Dammit.
