Summary: Louis wasted not a second in wrapping his pinky finger around Harry's extended one with a determined huff, "I promise I'll protect you forever! You're pretty as a rose and you're my friend!"

Harry giggled in return, "You're my friend too!"

And maybe that was the start of a friendship that would grow out to be something more. Something so beautiful and unique. Something that would be filled with innumerable amounts of love and care. Something that would be remembered forever.

OR

Harry and Louis over the years but for some reason I made it a 5+1 even tho 5+1's don't work that way.

Louis was nine when he first met Harry. The seven-year-old had moved into the house beside Louis's. Louis had baked a batch of cookies as a housewarming gift to welcome the new family into the neighborhood with his mother and gone over to give it to their new neighbors once they'd settled down and the movers had left. Louis being the outgoing kid he was had been excited to meet the new boy in his neighborhood, already thinking of things he could do with this new friend.
Louis held the box of cookies in his hands as he and his mother walked up to the door. He bounced in barely contained excitement as his mother knocked on the door. The door opened to a man with a polite smile on his face.

"Can I help you?"

Louis' mother opened her mouth to introduce them but was cut off by Louis who grinned at the man, "Hello! I'm Louis and this is my mom. We are your neighbors!"

The man smiled at Louis and his excitement, "Oh? Well, hello, Louis and his mom. I'm Robin. I have a little boy too. He's probably younger than you, Louis. Do you want to meet him?"

Louis nodded in excitement as Robin turned around and called for both his wife and son. Soon enough came a woman with a small boy with curly hair following behind.

"Hello! I'm Anne. This is my son Harry. Come say hi, Harry."

Louis froze for a second when the boy peeked out from behind his mother's legs, cheeks slightly red, with a timid, "Hi." shocked at how beautiful the boy's green eyes were.

"Hi, Harry! I'm Louis. Here, I baked these cookies with my mom!" he greeted when he regained his composure with a large smile.

Harry stared at Louis for a few seconds before taking a look at his parents who motioned for him to go ahead and accept the box of cookies Louis was offering.

"Thank you," said Harry as he accepted the cookies.

And afterward, when Louis and his mother returned home after having gotten a bit familiar with their neighbors Louis asked his mother a question.

"Mom, why was Harry looking like a Rose?"

After Louis had explained why he thought so, his mom had burst out laughing and patted Louis' head and told him that it was probably because the younger boy was shy and didn't deal well with attention.

Soon enough some time had passed and Harry's family had settled down in their neighborhood. Louis had been trying to catch sight of Harry. He had really liked the younger boy even though they hadn't interacted much and wanted to make friends with him but to his dismay, the younger boy had quite literally disappeared.

Louis had in the end given up on luck and went over to his house. Seemed like luck wasn't for him because he'd been told that Harry wasn't at home. However, he did find out that the younger boy had gone to the nearby park and Louis found himself thanking Harry's mother before sprinting his way to the park. He was going to be able to play and make friends with Harry finally!
