Merlin's POV
__________________Hurrying through the gates of Camelot. Morgana hot on my heels. We gasp at the horrific sight in front of us. Knights both from our kingdom, and Cendreds locked in an epic battle. Flames shooting up from different parts of the castle. As blood stained bodies of fallen victims lay scattered through the catidal, but that wasn't what had us staring in shocked horror.
Rather it was the undead skeltons with swords. Slashing at our people.
"No." Morgana whispers. Her face pale in horror. My eyes narrow in suspicion at her reaction. The glint of recognition in her cat eyes making me wary.
"Morgana do you know what caused this?" I demanded turning to her frozen form. Gulping and tearing her eyes from the scene in front of her. She nods. Panic clear on her face.
"Before I left Morgouse. We discussed ways to take down Uther. One of those ways involved a powerful spell that would litterly bring the dead back to life. It requires an anchor to work. I was uncomfortable with the idea. So shot it down immediately. I thought she had set the spell aside." She whimpered. Her gaze returning to the skeletons.
"Morgana focus. How do we stop it!"
"The anchor. We have to find the anchor and destroy it. When we discussed it. She talked about planting it in the dungeons. Where fewer people are likely to search."
"Than that is what we shall do." I spat. A look of determination crossing my eyes. Marching forward I scooped up a sword from a fallen knight just as Morgana grabbed my arm.
"Merlin you can't be serious!" She will have set traps to protect it." She worried. Eyes shining in fear. Sighing and yanking my arm gently from her grasp. I turned to her. Gripping her shoulders as I met her frightened gaze.
"Morgana. Its the only way. We are the only ones who know how to stop it. So it must be us who saves the day."
"Arthur..."
"Arthur won't listen. He will be too focused on the battle to pay us any heed. Or have you forgotten all the times he has brushed us off for being women." She scowled at this but agreed that I had a point. Relieved that she wasn't going to argue any more. I let go of her shoulders. Turning back to the castle as I scooped up another sword. Tossing it to her before heading inside.
Hesitating a moment longer. She finally began to follow. Her grip tightening on her sword. As she pushed her fear to the background. It wasn't long before the skeltons noticed our approach and began attacking us.
Though strangely, or prehaps not that strangely. They ignored Morgana. Choosing instead to focus entirely on me. After making it only about ten paces without much progress. I finally admitted to myself that this wasn't going to work. At least not with me anyway. So knocking down a skelton that was attempting to take my head off. I turned to Morgana. Who was lesuirely striking down unresisting skeltons in her wake.
"Morgana! Go on ahead!" She startled at this. Pausing to stare at me in disbelief.
"Are you nuts! I can't le..."
"Morgana we don't have time for this! The skeltons aren't attacking you. They are focused entirely on me, and cendreds men are leaving us alone because we are women. It will take too long if you were to wait for me. I will catch up as soon as I can but until than. Its up to you."
