Merlins POV
__________________"Are you sure this is a good idea? What if someone sees us." Morgana hesitantly asked. Memories of my near death from her careless actions playing through her head.
"Don't worry Morgana. I cast a notice me not on the area. It only last an hour though so we need to be quick." I stated hurrying my pace as we ventured to the middle of the meadow.
"Ok. I just don't understand what it is we are doing." I sighed at this, but as I never actually explained anything to her. Its to be expected.
"As you know. Arthur is preparing to take the throne by force. If he is to be successful without us having to reveal our magic then we are going to need help." I explained pulling out some candles and ashes from my bag to begin on the ritual circle.
"Ok and..." She prompted not catching my drift.
"And I am going to use a spell I found to send a message to Gwaine and Lancelot. Technically I can send a message to Gwaine through his blood guard mark but lancelot doesn't have one. So hence the ritual. If they choose to accept it will teleport them to this clearing. In which time my magic will alert me of their arrival."
"But wont others see the message?" I rolled my eyes at this as I finished the last touches on the circle.
"No it should only be seen by the ones its meant for."
"Should?"
"Well technically from what Gauis said. If someone who is destined to be a member of my blood guard is nearby they too will hear the message, but thats very unlikely to happen. " Morgana did not seem reassured but fr once she held her tounge. Obviously choosing to trust me.
Placing my bag outside of the circle. I carefully lit each candle around the circle. Scattering the remaining ashes as i slowly walked the edge of the circle chanting in latin."Reginae magicae. Triplici domina. Peto a te ut me audias et mittas mandata mea. Epistulam meam ad Gwaine et Lancelot mitte. Venite et adiuvate me ad pugnam."
With a loud whoosh the flames rose up to form a wind tunnel around me. Surrounding me in flames without burning me. Scattering more ashes I once more repeated the chant but louder this time. Until finally with a loud screech. The flames broke apart. Forming two large merlin birds that raced up into the sky before disappearing to deliver my message taking with it any trace of the ritual having been done.
I groaned in exhaustion as I felt my energy sapped from me as the magic took its toll.
"Merlin!" Morgana yelped. Racing to grab me before i collasped to the ground.
"I'm ok just tired. The messages have been sent out so we should head back before anyone notices we are gone."
"Here lean on me." Morgana whispered helping me back to the castle. Hopefully they would get here soon.
__________
Pulling my cloak tighter around myself. I hurried toward the meadow. Being sure not to be spotted by the guards. Of course they had to wait till the middle of the night to accept the message. Though I guess its probably wise that they did. Less chance of anyone seeing them. Still it doesn't help my irratic sleep schedule.
Once I was sure I would not be seen by any unwelcome eyes. I cast a quiet light spell to illuminate the clearing. I f4oze at the sight infront of me for instead of two bone headed guys. I am met by three. The third was starring at me in slight suspcion.
"Heya Merls. So funny story. I met Percival here on my travels. We were actually sharing a beer together when your message arrived. Funny thing is he could see it too. Yet no one else could So I...."
"That bracelet." I gasped interrupting Gwaines rambling. My eyes locked on a very familiar bracelet I have only seen once.
"Y.. you mean this?" The newly dubbed Percival hesitantly asked pointing to the pink rose bracelet on his wrist.
"Yes if you have that. That means your Freyas..."
"You know her?! Do you know where she is!? Is she ok!?" Percival frantically demanded racing to me in a blink of an eye and gripping my shoulders in his desperation. At this my eyes filled with tears no longer able to mert his eyes.
"I'm sorry. She died a year ago." I whispered as he released his death grip. A heartbroken look on his face.
"H.. how did she die?" He asked a tear slidding down his cheek. So I told him the whole story. By the end of it he looked resigned. Heartbroken but resigned.
"Well at least she is no longer suffering." He sighed as Gwaine placed a hand on his shoulder in comfort. Lancelot hanging back unsure what to do to comfort the grief stricken man.
"Well I may not be able to save Freya like I hoped, but I can still protect her friend."
"What." I sqwack as Percival kneels in front of me.
"Please Merlin. Because of you. My Freya wasn't alone in her final moments. She was able to smile again because of you. So please let me return the favor. Allow me to help you and the prince in taking back Camelot. Allow me to be your shield." He begged staring up at me with such heartbroken eyes. Drat I could feel myself crumbling by the second. With a deep sigh I agreed.
"Ok, but Arthur is the one we must protect not me." I firmly stated.
"Of course." He replied insincerily. Making it clear that i would be his first priority. Before i could argue any more a bright light around his right upper arm distracted me. When it cleared a picture of a merlin bird with a topaz in its beak was all that remained. Great now theres another one.
