Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!
I slowly opened my eyes. This bright light hovering over me made it hard to see. I couldn't move myself…
"H-Hannah?" I heard a voice call out my name. "Clarice, Bryce, Andrea! Come in, Hannah's awake!" I heard a man yell.
I forced my eyes open and there was a woman beside me. She held onto my arm. "Hannah, darling, I'm so glad you're awake." She smiled a grateful smile.
Bryce and Andrea's face came into view, it feels like I haven't seen them in months. "Hannah!" Bryce spoke, his hand resting on my other arm. "We're so glad you're okay." The man spoke again.
I silently stared at them all.
Then a doctor entered. He beckoned everybody to space away from me as he checked my vitals. He beckoned the woman and man outside with him and Bryce and Andrea stayed behind with me.
"Are you feeling okay, Hannah?" Andrea asked as the two sat on the bed. "W-what happened?" I asked. I did not recognize my voice.
"Two nights ago we heard you screaming at 1 in the morning. Mom, dad and I ran to your room and we found you passed out on the floor. Don't you remember?" Bryce asked. And with that memories flashed in my mind, though, too fast to feel guilt.
"T-two nights ago?" I asked. "Yeah. Mom and dad's been taking turns staying here to keep you company." Bryce continued, "What happened?" I asked, frowning. "That's what we're all trying to figure out. Maybe Doc's letting mom and dad know right now." Bryce answered, turning back to the door.
Later that afternoon I was discharged.
"Okay. Is everybody ready to go home?" The woman turned back to us from the front seat of a minivan. "We're ready mom, just drive already." Bryce grunted by the window side. Andrea was sitting between us and the man was sitting shotgun.
The car finally started and within a few minutes we stopped before Hannah's house. I was escorted to her room and laid down on her bed.
"I'm so glad you're okay honey. Look, I know we barely talk anymore, not like we used to. I've just been so caught up with the wedding, gladly that was a success, and work stuff, but I'm just so glad you're okay." She spoke over me, sitting beside me on my bed. "What did the doctor say?" I quickly asked.
"The doctor said you're going to be okay. He doesn't know exactly what caused you to faint." She paused. There was an awkward silence before she spoke again. "What happened that night? You screamed. Did you see something? You're father and I were really scared, we thought we'd lose you." She continued, fear in her eyes. "I-I don't remember what happened." I stuttered.
But I did remember, I remembered everything. "Well, when you do remember, don't hesitate to tell me. I'm here hon, and I'm taking time off of work." She put a stray hair behind my ear. I managed a smile before she left.
When I was alone my eyes wandered around the room like it was my first time actually seeing it. It was, but it wasn't for Hannah, obviously. I looked down at my hands. They were not mine, they were Hannah's and I could feel, like really feel this time, my skin was real matter. It was warm and red and pulsating. Flesh, I had real flesh.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door and the woman popped her head in, "Hannah, your friend's here to see you-" She whispered and in walked Matt.
"Thanks Mrs Walsh." Matt looked back at her, "No problem. I'll go and get a snack." She smiled before leaving us.
"Hannah." Matt came rushing to me. "Are you okay? What happened? I wanted to see you back at the hospital but only family members were allowed!" He continued. I stared at him in awe. How quick he came rushing to Hannah but how he never came rushing after me when he broke his promise.
